On a more serious note for a moment, the Wii U boxes should have been tin boxes, like the special editions for current games.
Realistically they wouldn't cost that much more to produce, and they would have made the physical games more collectible.
Which would have been the only reason I would buy them over downloads.
This is bad because....? Dowloads make companies more money then retail disks/cartridges, since Nintendo and the 3rd party (if there is one) don't have to deal with shipping charges and the store (like Walmart, Gamestop, BestBuy, etc.) not having to take money out. With downloads, 3rd party game sales go to whoever owns the network (in this case Nintendo) and the 3rd party, so less money down the drain. Yeah, it's marginal, but the difference definitely shows up in a billion dollar industry focused on selling individual games at $60 or less.
Plus, if all WiiU games were in tin cases, it would make my special edition of Halo 2 and Metroid Prime Trilogy less special. Something is only collectable if it is separated from other forms of the same game.

I also think game retail prices should be higher.
Collectible simply means something that you can collect. A shelf filled with lovely metal tin cases? Yes, that would be a nice collection to have.

lol. It seems to come down to whether or not the people like the colors. There's no color scheme that can make everyone happy. That's why Nintendo resorts to using white a lot.
Personally, I like it. The yellow is there so that it's not just white and blue. And I don't think it's supposed to blend in with boxarts as much as it's supposed to contrast with them. To make it stand out, like "This is the Wii U version!"
This represents my exact sentiments.
I really believe a blue and white scheme would be terribly mundane and predictable. The yellow adds major contrast to the blue, which is what makes it so much more noticeable and isolates it from the game cover art. I personally adore it.
