I always wanted to make one of these, and all the other threads are really just about rumours and whatnot.
Anyway, all I wanted from the new console was a way to keep playing mah Zelda and mah Mario when I have to go to the toilet. Now that that feature has been confirmed, I don't know what else Nintendo can do from here. What are your thoughts?

The amazing possibilities that the "new controller" presents is definitely something to look forward to. I was tripping when I saw the clip with the ninja stars getting thrown at the bamboo trees, along with the flicking of the clips onto the big screen. The graphics too are simply stunning. Sure they may look like a slightly nicer version of the 360 and PS3 but when you think about it, this is where technology is at now.
If you compare how Wii games looked back then to how they do now (or even 360 & PS3 games), the graphics have improved since the developers continued to bring out the full potential of each console, same with the Wii U. Where the 360 and PS3 will finally hit their maximum capabilities, the Wii U will still have much more to give. Whatever the price is, I'll start saving (unless it's like $500 with $75 controllers X_X)
It looks expensive. I also don't understand the point of bringing the game to the controller so you can play games of the TV (Isn't that what the 3DS is for?)

Well, the 3DS isn't capable of such graphics. Though the controllers use is limited to bringing your game to the toilet, like I said.

On the 1 hand the controller looks as big as an actual wii console :/ but their tech demo's also showed it was much more innovative than I thought, especially when used with other peripherals can't wait to see how full games make use of it.
Although I'm still not sure about this Wii U stuff, I have to say that Nintendo did a great job on the Wii-3ds side of things this year. The Zelda 25 orchastra was pretty good to.
At first I thought the new console was just the controller, or a Wii Add on... but I'm so syched now! When I saw them drawing Link... UDraw Tablet... WiiU?
At first I didn't know what the heck it was. I also didn't know if it was hand held, special controller for the Wii or a console. I was getting a little pissed, cause I thought Nintendo blew it. They didn't do a good job with the presentation. The whole thing just confused the heck out of me. I'm pretty freakin excited now though after learning some more details. It looks like it's going to be beastly.
I'm really impressed with the capabilities of the WiiU. I really like how you can push content off of the WiiU controller and into your 3DS. I'm also impressed with the ability to draw and sketch in great detail on the controllers screen and I also like how you can take a game and play even when someone is using the television. Even more to my delight is the video chat with which I'm sure my family, friends and I will make great use of.
Now I'd just like to see how cross-gaming between the 3DS and WiiU will work out.

The footage used for WiiU's game line-up is actually not game footage from the system itself- but rather, the PS3/360 versions.
Here's some other neat tidbits:
The Wii U will be able to give out 1080p HD
Wii games will not get any up scaling or HD treatment
The garden demo was made with early Dev kits
The Zelda footage was a tech demo and not confirmation of a Zelda title for the Wii U
The Wii U will not have Blu-Ray or feature Blu-Ray support
The Nintendo Online experience could be revamped for the Wii U
Quote: "Reggie stated that they are looking to take the best of not just there own online features, but also what they see the best in the XBL and PSN. That won’t be personal detail security then."
I do recall Reggie stating a couple of times that the tech demo shown was only early footage or something along those lines and that it doesn't fully represent what we'll see in final form.
Either way, I want to get my hands on that controller. And I'm going to have fun drawing on that large 6.2 inch touchscreen
Wii U doesn't even look near finished now. I like the concept, but the design needs a bit of work before I'm sold. Plus not just obsessing on the third parties.
I've never really cared a lot about third parties on Nintendo platforms, save only for Square Enix and Capcom. I usually buy Nintendo systems because I want first party Nintendo and Brownie Brown games.

Not sold on the controller and they didn't really show any games, so I can't say I'm excited for it yet. I'm still hoping, but it looks like Nintendo's just playing catch up.
