How exactly would that work? 3D visuals?

I think he means gameplay like Xenoblade, Skyrim, or Dragon Age but set in the Fire Emblem Universe

I still don't see how it would work. Fire Emblem is strictly different from other RPGs and shaking up the formula too much might split the fanbase.

A Nintendo based mature game would prolly have vibrant colors and a very dark story. A mature game doesn't always mean a good game but Nintendo should play with mature games more often.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Would the first two images be considered inappropriate? I understand they're gory but how do we know the difference between that and a simple screenshot from a game.

@shingi_70 Just as long as they have NSFW warnings and aren't entirely inappropriate, they are fine. Gore is ok in my book -Lz

yeah, look at the casual mode in Awakening, even being 100% optional some fans kept complaining about it.... though I didn't try that mode so I don't know if it's too different(other than the removal of permadeath)

@GuSilverFlame It includes the removal of permadeath and you can fully save in the middle of a battle. I don't understand the logic behind complaining about an optional easy mode in games.

Anyway, I'd like Nintendo to make a mature game based on emotions and things only adults can understand. Some gore is okay but I wouldn't want the game to revolve around that.

Don't think that's Nintendo's wheelhouse to be honest. The Game would have to be either story focused or rather experimental which is more in the sony wheelhouse.

It would probably best be accomplished by only having a limited cast of playable characters, changing from a map/mission level structure to explorable overworld with smoother transition into tactical combat (Like fallout 1 and 2, if you've ever played them...). and using the same basic combat structure with a more robust leveling system and more inventory (armor items).

It would best be pursued as a spin-off series using the same world and unit classes, with familiar characters as NPCs.

One that's not rated M. Nintendo's not into the gore, sex, swearing that's make that makes games rated M. Swearing would the opposite of actual maturity anyway.

Or get Konami to make an exclusive and violent Contra game or Silent Hill. I don't know... They've been doing that lately(hiring 3rd parties for exclusives).

It would probably just be a Platinum Games game, but toned down. I can't see them doing that as long as they can get other companies to make M rated games, it would be a risk with a much, much better chance of backlash instead of success.

Yeah, you're not going to get Nintendo themselves to make an M rated game. The best you can hope for, I think, is a situation like Eternal Darkness or Perfect Dark, where you get a Nintendo exclusive with some help from Nintendo. I mean, if you want a mature game (not necessarily rated M) then you still have games like Majora's Mask (whereas it's still safe for kids, it does have a lot of mature themes going on). If you want a gorefest then you have third party exclusives like Madworld or No More Heroes.

Although, could you imagine an M rated Zelda game? All they would have to do is make it more realistic, like, whenever Link kills an enemy then blood goes flying or perhaps even have other people that Link has to fight. Like, a story that involves innocent people being possessed or even a human army from another kingdom who for some reason believes that Hyrule has done something bad so they feel that they have to go to war with Hyrule. Then Link would be chopping up people's bodies, that would be gruesome. Although, it wouldn't necessarily have realistic graphics, just be realistic in the sense that when Link kills things there's blood and they die instead of them just blowing up and turning into a puff of smoke. It could have sort of a hyper-realistic or surreal look to the game. They could call it, "Link's Nightmare."

Newgrounds ruined my ability to take an M rated version of any Nintendo series seriously ever. M rated Nintendo is an idea that is almost inherently a bad parody.

I think an M rated Metroid could be pretty cool. Sort of like how Halo is ratec M for alien gore.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

Looking at Halo compared to Metroid, there's no reason why Halo should be rated M, if you ask me. Maybe the animations and enemies are just more mature? Samus explodes aliens all the time... Oh well.

Really, I want Nintendo to keep coming at games the way they are with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" attitude.

If the gameplay would work with Mario or Link, make it a Mario or Zelda game.

I want Nintendo to bring BACK old IPs like Metroid and Banjo, but as for new ones, only make them if older IPs won't work with them as well as they should.

I'm saying this to say Metroid and Zelda (Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess) are the kinds of mature games I want Nintendo to make. Metroid is scary not so much because of the enemies, but because of the sheer isolation on the massive world you explore. And with Samus not speaking in Prime, you feel as though you are truly alone. Zelda on the other hand comes from a more emotional maturity with the dark tone of Twilight Princess and the hard hitting from Majora's Mask's interactions.
