Many people stayed up past midnight the last evening just to get their hands on The Wonderful 101 as early as they could.
And the purchase option got unlocked exactly at 0:00...but there was a catch. The promised 30% discount for people who also bought Pikmin 3 via the eShop wasnt applied. And it showed on Miiverse, as it was flooded with complain posts about the fact, that people waited so long and still couldnt get their game because of this oversight.
The thing is, i could have gotten the disc version a day earlyer, because a few of our shops already put it on shelfes.
Nintendo is heavily marketing the eShop, but with problems like that, and the fact that the game shows up early on the shop, but you still have to wait for its official release date for it to unlock the download button doesnt really benefit eShop purchases.
To be honest, the eShop (save for the ocasional discount campaign) has more negative points than positive. Game sizes get bigger and bigger, almost forcing you to get an additional HDD, the pricing is often higher than that of the physical copy and is extremely stiff. While prices in stores fluctuate quite often, the eSHop prices seem to be hammered into stone. And you can mostly get the physical copy a tad earlier.
Thats not really the best way to get people to prefer the digital versions over physical ones.

Don't worry. They'll give you the discount. I bought Lego City Undercover at midnight for $60. I called them and asked why I was charged $60 after I found out it was actually $50 to buy the game.
They ended up giving me $12($2 extra) in eShop funds. I do understand that's not your money, it's eShop funds, but I'm sure they'll work it out for everyone, whether people want an eShop discount or the extra money.

I didnt buy it for full price, i wayted till morning (when the discount problem was fixed)
Many people reported that nintendos customer service is very nice in that regard and makes no big deal out of refunds when something like that happens.
But when you try to market your eShop as the next best thing since sliced bread, problems like this are really annoying.
If the discount applied as soon as the game would have been available, i (and many others) could have downloaded the game overnight on standby. Now i have to sit through hours and hours of downloading (reaaaaly slow connection at the moment, dont know why)

Just buy it when it comes out from now on. It's false advertising if they don't give you the discount, that's why they set stuff straight.
You might be out 200 pesos or what ever you have for a bit, but they always do what they say they will.

So apparently Nintendo made a mistake about something involving online/the internet.
Based on the past year, they're stupid but will fix it soon enough.

I just buy physical.
My ext. HDD is physical.
I think they'll eventually let us carry around our ext. HDDs as a "cartridge", and if you want to use it on another Wii U, you can log into your NNID.
I don't care much for the case or book. COD BO II hardly even came with one. It was a disc, but the manual was on the disc that you could access on the Home menu.
Flexible accounts will happen. Accounts technically already exist, it's just tied to one console so far.
When they allow 3DS to connect to Wii U(which is confirmed to happen. the ammount of connectivity is unconfirmed), that will probably be the time accounts are tied as well.
The devices have to be tied physically/locally before they can share an account, that's why it will happen simultaneously.
EDIT: Also, I think VC will be cross-playable, then you can just upload your restore point to a server or locally so it doesn't interupt the actual data file.

Sometimes things like this happen. Even Steam messes up sometimes. People make mistakes. It isn't a big deal
