EXACTLY. Once a good first party game is released (Pikmin 3, and especially Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros.), there will be a huge increase in sales. Future inevitable games like Zelda and Metroid will also help out a lot. I literally bought my Wii U just for Pikmin 3, although I wasn't expecting the delay. For the first day alone, I had 18 hours of game play (What?! Nintendo Land is fun with 5 players!.) For the next month, I had 8 hours of gameplay TOTAL. There aren't many games that interest me right now except for maybe New Super Mario Bros. U, but I don't think I'm ever going to get it. I only have Nintendo Land and ZombiU, although I've probably played the Rayman Legends Challenges App more than both of those games combined haha

nintendo messed up the wii u launch by not hving a lot of great games from the outset but it will recover. unfortunately home consoles in general will struggle next gen (I think anyway) so the sales wont be anywhere near wii. It will still do okay and have some great Nintendo games on it, but i would be a liar if I said i wasnt concerned about the lack of 3rd party games so far and on the horizon.
if ps4 and xbox have slow starts too i wonder if tha twil make wii u launch look better. it could happen.

Ugh. Hang on. <powers on system>

New Super Mario Brothers U, NintendoLand, Sonic Racing Transformed, Trine 2, Nano Assault Neo, Ninja Gaiden Razor's Edge, ZombiU, RAyman Challenge App, Mighty Switch Force, Bit Trip Runner, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Puddle, The Cave, Darksiders 2, Batman: Arkham City, Lego City, Super Metroid, F-Zero, and Punch-Out.

I count, let's see, six titles you can only get on the Wii U and 11 titles you can only get on a Nintendo system. If Microsoft and Sony can produce exclusives in that number within their first six months, you let me know. Oh, and please wait until it ACTUALLY HAPPENS. As we've all seen from all gaming publishers, words are only empty words until product actually hits the shelves. I'll say it once and I'll say it again: if you can't find something on your Wii U to entertain you, you've got quite the chip on your shoulder. I hope your snarkiness feels justified.

LOL. All of these exclusives on the Wii U that are out right now aren't must-owns. NintendoLand is a cheap tech demo, NSMBU could easily be downgraded to the Wii with little to no changes. Who the hell cares about Rayman Challenge, it's nothing compared to Legends, which was DELAYED of course, and every other first party exclusive isn't out yet, and every other Wii U game is a cheap port of a game I've already played before, but this time without the DLC.

So again: What Games?

All we have to do is wait and see how people support Xbox One and PS4. We have to remember a lot of people that got Wii, 360, and PS3 weren't the "hard-core" audience. If the Console Makers are expecting even a majority of their current install base to up-grade, they are sadly mistaken. But time will tell.

Pretty much every reason around is why the Wii U is not doing well right now:

-The system is very expensive for what it does. The Wii U almost only plays games. If it weren't for some of the video streaming apps and the amazing internet browser, that would be its sole purpose. Meanwhile, it's competitors current system (so not including what's to come) offer a slew of multimedia capabilities. The ability to play Blurays/DVDs, Media Center on XBOX, the many more streaming services on both systems, the music stuff, the interactability (is that a word?) with other products, etc. It does less than its competition now, let alone later on.
-There's the stigma that Nintendo is "kiddie and casual" that exists between lots of people who play video games.
-Questionable specs. There's a lot of statements by many devs out there now that show how Nintendo's system isn't up to par in some respects to its competitors current system (I won't even go into the next ones)

-Nintendo's lineup for the rest of the year isn't exactly spectacular to a gamer at first glance. Mario 3D World looks really similar to 3D Land, DK Wii U looks similar to DK Returns, Wind Waker is a remake, Wii Fit U is... Wii Fit U, Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101 are pretty niche (although they'll both probably be great)

-What's the point of the Gamepad? Nintendo still needs to prove its relevancy to a lot of people (not me, I get it, and surely not many of the people on this forum. I'm talking about your average joe consumer).

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/07/freedom_factorys_blo...
The Gamepad is phenomnal as a map, and is great for big families that fight over the TV.
The wii u has a relitivly good Browser, netflix and Hulu, TVii support, which makes flipping through channels easier, and Amazon Prime. What were you expecting, the all-in-one Xbox one? Because you could see how people were clamoring over cable support. Also, the Wii U is next-gen. It can run 1080p, and brings new concepts to the table. It also retails 50$ less than the PS4. Unless the PS4 or XBox One supports 4k resolution, there's not a huge gap in graphical power. Just look at games like Watch Dogs.

I'm a dreaded "casual gamer." But I've had plenty to keep me busy with Madden, Trine, Mario Bros., Sonic Transformed, NintendoLand, Zen Pinball, Injustice, Nano Assault, Monster Hunter, Game & Wario and Injustice.... Between now and next year at this time, there will be at least a dozen more titles that I want to get. I could see how somebody would be frustrated if they bought this system in Nov/Dec. I got mine in late April but lack of games hasn't been an issue at all for me.

I think you would have to have a trained eye to notice the difference- probably have both frozen, side by side. Most people wouldn't look at one system, then the next day go to a friend's house and think, OMG, this is the same game on the Wii U, not even close!

All of the games I just listed. I'm sorry, I'm not back down on that. Everything you just typed is an opinion. In MY opinion, NSMBU is a fantastic game that kept me interested for weeks and actually had me hooked into getting five stars. When it comes to Nintendoland, you sound like someone who hasn't had the chance to sit down and play it with some friends. I feel bad for you there, bud. And of course the challenge app isn't a full game, but it's pretty awesome. So, technically, if you don't want me to count that one just replace it with the new Wario game - that's a Wii U exclusive. Or you may even consider Ninja Gaiden a Wii U exclusive as it is definitely best version of the game out there and does has remarkable differences and improvements upon the other versions.

So yea. Once again. What games? Uhm... all of those games. Up there. They're pretty sweet. Goodbye.

The main reason that I think is that most people are thinking that the WiiU is just a new controller and saying, no way am I paying that much for one. At least in its earlier days.

Marisa- "That's sweet, I only get weekends off."

Marisa- It's so hot, I'm gonna die here.

Remilia- My, it'd be fine if you'd let me take care of that.

I just wanted to bring this up to combat the "no games, bro" argument...
First of all, some are ports from 7th gen consoles. Are you saying some of the best games from last gen aren't games?
Second, it doesn't matter how Wii U does on the market until PS4 and Xbox One come out. That is fact, because there is no competition as of now, and Wii U doesn't have it's line-up everyone was expecting months ago. They've improved the games that were delayed as well, showing proof that delaying them was the right decision.
Third, Wii has sold approximately 4 million consoles thus far. You really think Activision or EA are going to ignore a larger install base just because the textures don't look as good, a few polygons are missing, and Wii U can't do 4K?

We literally still know nothing about Wii U. Games for PS4 and Xbox One, as well as Nintendo's games are right around the corner that will truly show what the consoles do.
