The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask 3D was announced in yesterday's Nintendo Direct after plenty of treading, speculation, hints, and begging. I've began to notice a similar pattern with F-Zero as well. The F-Zero Kart and track in the new Mariokart 8 DLC, the Nintendoland game (Yoshi had one with yarn graphics!), the Amiibo costume, etc. Does this point towards a new F-Zero game!? Discuss it here, and feel free to find more evidence that supports or disproves this.

There is one problem I see with this, though: I distinctly recall Miyamoto saying he couldn't come up with anything to advance the series, and I think he even said at one point he thought the series ran it's course (though I could be wrong about that one.). Though I could definitely see Nintendo releasing a remake.
There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

I think it's evidence that one is possible. It is not however evidence that one will happen. Don't get the two confused or else you will be disappointed

One full retail title should happen for the Wii U as well as a budget eShop F-Zero for 3DS.
I really want to see the Wii U as that Nintendo console where almost all Ninty franchises, new and FORGOTTEN come alive. 3DS kinda had it with Kid Icarus, but I wanna see Drill Dozer.
God first.

IMO, it points to that they try to actively re-connect users to the F-Zero (and Metroid) franchises. Yesterday, Reggie specifically mentioned the Metroid group being outside Miyamoto's supervision. I have not yet seen any such remarks about F-Zero development. I guess they will wait to hint anything until they actually know they have the basic requirements for a possible game release.
I'd just be happy to see the Japanese exclusive F-Zero Climax, extremely import friendly, be released on the North American eShop. I'm somewhat concerned that they will stop after GP Legend.
I really don't think we will see a sequel on the Wii U just because of a few instances of games, drawing upon Nintendo's history, having taken some of their inspiration from the F-Zero franchise. I've seen none of the sort of hints we had going with Majora's Mask.

He never said that the series has ran its course, but he did say that he didn't have anything in mind at that time about how to advance this series and because of that, it was sitting on the shelf. Nothing was said that didn't leave room for optimism over its future revival, though.
Plus, we're talking about a man that has downright lied to us before like when he claimed that Nintendo had no plans to release a 3DS revision. Just a few weeks later, the 3DS XL was announced. A development I'm sure he was well aware of when he made that statement.
It seems like they could be building a larger fan base for it, but I'm not sure how long it would take until they felt it was good enough to justify a release.

On the one hand I'd like to see a HD version especially if it had online. On the other hand I think they're right when they say there's nothing interesting they could really add to it. If we do get one I don't think it'll be a massive release, the game is built as a fast game rather than a detailed one. The hardware on the Wii U is fast enough that that's not a challenge like it once was.

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"
I wouldn't be surprised if they just make an HD Online version of F Zero GX. Which would be a decent compromise since very few people have played F-Zero since that game came out anyway (barring VC releases of the original F Zero) and it was a GCN game that isn't Wind Waker so most of the audience never played it anyway.
HD release of GX with the arcade tracks unlocked in a separate mode would be a good start, at least.

@Octane VGchartz isn't really that reliable at all. I wanted to check out how much Sonic series has sold in total and It didn't even come close to 45. When I googled it out, Its stated that Sonic sold around 140 million hits, almost close to that of Mario and it beats the hell out of Final Fantasy!
I'm pretty sure that Masahiro Sakurai will come up with an F-Zero game and then it'll be a hit and that it won't get a sequel for years........like Kid icarus.
I think an HD remake of F Zero GX with added online multiplayer capabilities would be absolutely ideal during the next May-August game drought. If it had some new added courses, wonderful, but I think we need something to satisfy our high speed urges!
