I had some time to play mine this weekend (got it on Wednesday). I played some Mario Kart 8, haven't had a chance to play Nintendoland or SMBU yet, but I look forward to that. At first I was hesitant to transfer over my VC and WiiWare games, but after I found out I couldn't transfer over my Miis without doing the system transfer, I gave in. Now I just have to go through the process of re-downloading around 150 games . So far so good though, I will update my thoughts here as I put more time into the system.

You can transfer your Miis from the Wii to the Wii U without a system transfer. It's a little tedious if you have a lot of Miis, though.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
I just got a gamecube! Wait is this the wrong thread?
Anyway my first gamecube ever and I just got it for $15 with a couple of games and memory cards and a wavebird receiver (no controllers). I got it since the Wii U GBA releases got me itching to play more GBA and my DS lites are kind of whack and my GBA SP is the lower brightness model and my DS phat is not as bright as my ds lite so now I can use the Gameboy player to play all the GBA games on the TV!

Damn you just made me remember my childhood days where I would drool at the poster ad about people playing their GBA games on TV.

I just bought the Legend of Zelda bundle yesterday. The temptation of playing Wind Waker in HD was just too much, and I finally gave in. I'm extremely happy with it, and plan on getting more and more games as soon as I can. My first system was the GameCube back in 2002, when the original Wind Waker came out, I made my parents buy it for me when I was 4, haha. I'm so excited for the new Smash Bros and Zelda, there's just too many good games coming out to not buy the Wii U now.
How do you transfer your Miis without the system transfer?
Probably the same way as you would from Wii to Wii. The Wii remote has some memory and can store Miis. Go to the Mii Channel on your Wii and copy your Miis to a Wii remote. Then fire up the Wii U, go to Wii mode, select the Mii channel and transfer the Miis from the remote.

No, unfortunately it won't let you do it that way. The Wii Mode on the Wii U doesn't have the option in the Mii Channel to transfer Miis with the Wii Remote, which seems odd to me. From what I read online, the only other way to transfer Miis from Wii to Wii U is by using a 3DS, which I don't have. I already did the system transfer so it doesn't really matter, I was just curious if there was another way I didn't know about.
