I can name 20+ Wii games that look substantially more attractive than The Conduit does. I'm not saying you said anything, but it just baffles me people still think that engine looked anything but choopy and rushed.

Don't worry, I agree on both counts.

No please, I get it, people want Valve games on their consoles.

I don't think fast paced Valve games like L4D should jump the switch to consoles. I know it made it to 360 but I bet a lot of people would struggle to find someone who perfers both the controls and the community over the PC version.

Maybe if the said people your asking know it's on PC at all, or even play PC games. I don't know anyone who plays PC games at all, so it would be different in my case. Everyone I know wants PS3, loves Xbox 360, and either hates or is indifferent about Nintendo.

It was known after year one the Wii wouldn't have 'next-gen' graphics. I honestly think if developers would have tried a little harder, they could have gotten better results, but Xbox/PS games all usually used the Unreal Engine 3, so it was a base engine that kinda just became standard. It all comes down to style I suppose, but even in that case, Infinity Ward/COD makers had nothing over Conduit in terms of style. There has been alot of good looking games, but we're talking about HVS here. I'm not making comparisons of likeliness, but rather differences

It was known before the Wii launched, HD graphics were not possible. No, the Unreal Tournament 3 engine was used in some games on 360 and Playstation 3, not most.

What style does The Conduit have again? Generic Sci-Fi style?

Just for you.

The Steam community sucks just as much as any community, and there are plenty of people who prefer controllers over a mouse. Enough to make it worth their while at least. I played Left4Dead on the 360. The controls were the least of my problems. It played perfectly fine. I certainly faired better than when I played Team Fortress 2 on the PC. That was a G-ddamn nightmare.

Alright, maybe you knew about Wii not going HD, but I didn't. After a year I realized it based on what was coming out, not on specs I found on the internet. I'm not defending Conduit in anyway vs. other games, I'm just saying that bashing Conduit for generic sci-graphics isn't even an argument. I can only imagine how sick you grown since sci-fi has been a major theme on plenty of media dating back before video games. ALOT of games used Unreal 3, but you're right, maybe I just didn't notice other engines were being used because it all looked the same to me. Funny huh?

Being generic is a COMPLETELY reasonable argument for why The Conduit sucks. Some people actually care about innovation and creativity, and some people just pretend they care, and then they go buy something like The Conduit or a Gameloft game.

I'm guessing none of you are looking forward to the next COD, Aliens, or really anything then? Seriously, people have been fighting zombies for ages, I'm surprised no complaints about that were made ASAP. Star Wars is like 40 years old, so holy s***.

I'm curious to know how one couldn't have known the Wii wasn't HD. The Conduit was a generic Sci-Fi FPS with a generic Sci-Fi look. It did not stand far from the crowd whatsoever.

I never said anything about science fiction being generic or awful or whatever it is you think I'm trying to say. And yeah it is funny to think most FPSs look similar in some way. It's hard to make something so iconic in a genre, different.

Everyone I was in school with honestly thought Wii was going to be HD. We knew it was going to have motion control, and VC, but everyone I ever talked to about the Wii really had no idea what the hell was going to happen with that console. We just expected to see Gears of War type graphics by the end of its lifetime, which obviously didn't happen. Now we have 2 Gears sequels, which all gradually got worse storywise, but get way better in multiplayer/gameplay.

That makes a little more sense I get, but I don't see how this has to do with the topic at hand?

What.

I'm good at translation insanity.

He means that being generic and typical is true about a lot of gaming in reality. Or any other type of entertainment.

Of course while I haven't played the games, everything I've heard suggests that it is the definition of mediocrity, something I can't say about any other FPS I've ever played, even ones presumably much worse than it.

There's the world of difference between staying true to genre, and shamelessly cloning it.

COD for instance might not INNOVATE, but it changes things up - takes new approaches to storytelling, comes up with interesting new ideas on multiplayer and so on.

The Conduit and Gameloft clones don't do anything more than pretty versions of stuff that already exists.

That's better than I can do, so I'll accept it. So in response: Yeah, lots of things are generic, but that doesn't mean we have to take it lying down - demand higher quality and only play the stuff you think will be the best. It might mean you'll play less games, but at least your time will be better spent.

At least I know how to spell translating. Who's insane now? Haha. Besides, it's true. All media has basically been recycling every idea ever, but has been improving the actual quality and presentation of those recycled ideas.

I'll take generic on 3DS. Because we are seriously lacking in the first-person shooter departme.

But unless we see a serious drought on Wii U, I'm perfectly fine with the absence of Conduit or almost any other HVS game.

Also @CactusJackson I'm 99% sure you were only referring to HVS, but I'm just making it clear that Shin'en's game engines are NOT choppy and look a hell of a lot better then Quantum3. Jett Rocket and Nano Assault are some of the best-looking games on their respective systems and run smoothly throughout.

This is a signature.

You just described life and everything in it. Every movie, video game, song, business product, war tactic, book, car, etc. is all based around the success of some one prior to you.

Congratulations.

I was only speaking about HVS' engine.

Apparently "development/ improvement of an idea" is the same as "generic"
