Damn Perth and its love of brick walls. I can't use it in any room other than the room it's in. Which is fine and good enough but still. Bricks. Same happens with WiFi which is 2.4Ghz + 5Ghz and by all measures a much better signal. Works throughout the house reasonably well but go into a corner or out the back and it's effectively a dead signal.

I have problems making my Gamepad work within 4-5 feet from my Wii U.

In my college dorm, I can't leave my room. Unless I go into the room next door and sit in a particular spot on the wall closest to my room and hold the GamePad very carefully. At my house, if the Wii U is in the living room, I can go to the kitchen, bathroom, my room, and, of course, the living room. Those are all rather close together and my room and the bathroom are separated by walls.

I do wish the signal was stronger so I could go farther (only enough to go anywhere in my house since it's small), but what I have works well enough without me feeling tethered to the system.

A little off-topic though... I do remember going to my friend's house and playing the Wii when I was able to go upstairs on the opposite side of the house and ruin everyone's Smash Bros. game by activating the home menu at random intervals. I grew out of that before they actually beat me with their Nunchucks, but that was excellent range.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

General rule of thumb I have seen so far, it can go quite far with no walls in an open room. When walls come into play, it can go through one thick one or two thin ones and after that its toast.
