To hell with choice and rational thought. Let's Ban and material with Violence and Sexual overtones. Obviously the next thing on the list is Zelda with its Pagan Symbolism.

Yes, pre-orders are some insight on this topic, but it's also a point that has fallen through for Wii U..

Because Ninty was unable to keep up the momentum. We should've realized it. Iirc, there was hardly anything on the horizon post launch, except for stuff like Bayonetta that was a long way off.

Sony and Microsoft won't have that problem. They have plenty coming out in 2014 that can keep the momentum up.

I'm not sure what you're trying say. The only game Nintendo delayed was Pikmin 3 as far as I'm aware. I don't look at a barren software launch period as a "can't", as much as a "not going to, yet".

There was literally no software announced besides the teasers they showed at E3 2011-12. There was never release dates for anything, or any info given at all regarding software.
I don't see how not keeping up the momentum automatically draws "they couldn't" conclusions. That means they didn't have any intention to keep up momentum in my eyes.
There's a difference between can't, and didn't.

Nintendo DIDN'T keep the momentum.

First off, I was refering to what we knew was coming in the first year of the Wii U and comparing it to the first year schedule that we already know of for the PS4 and XOne. You see, back then, a lot of games were delayed, including Wii Fit U, Game & Wario, and Wonderful 101. We wound up with a barren first 3 months, and in fact, I'm pretty sure the first 6 months saw only about a dozen new retail games post launch, plus 6 digital games. That's not good. A lot of gamers didn't have much to play.

The PS4 has 39 games planned for next year, and that's not counting the 34 games they have at launch. Xbox One I'm pretty sure has even more games lined up. Even if some of them get delayed, they'll be fine, and plenty of people will have games to play post-launch.

Btw, I'm counting Digital games into this for all 3 consoles.

Oh yeah, secondly, Nintendo wouldn't purposely fail to keep up the momentum, unless they're collectively suicidal. They're lucky they've managed to salvage as much as they could in the latter half of the year, because it's really hard to get things going again if you can't keep up the momentum.

Game and Wario was actually supposed to be installed on the system but was delayed to slap Wario and friends on it. Plus someone at Nintendo probably thought launching with party game made no sense if one was a system level hardware.

Nintendo's Line up so far for the Wii U has been.

New Super Mario Bros U - Launch day
Nintendoland - Launch
Sing Party- Launch
ZombiU- Launch
Lego City Undercover- March
Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate- March
Game and Wario - June
New Super Luigi U-June
Pikmin 3-July
Pokémon Rumble- August
The Wonderful 101- September
The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD- September
Wii Party U- October

Not a bad line up but look at the big gaps between the software. Not having the best third party support its up to Nintendo first and foremost to try fill those gaps especially since droughts are what accelerated the Wii's death. Having more Wii Sports Club/New Super Luigi U/Pokémon Rumble U would help the system. This fall looks nice but I'm wondering how Nintendo will extend its software into next year.

I think November before black friday needs to be a huge ND to show that on black friday you should buy a wiiu..maybe gameplay of X,FE X SMT and new zelda........and maybe a huge press conference and talk about maybe a reconstruction of the company,Adding more Studios to keep care of lost nintendo ips(starfox,Soccer to replace fifa, bring Camelot Software Planning back to make golden sun,and maybe Advance Wars to bring more rpg fans). And that should be a big enough ND to last us in till E3

Sorry to be a pedant, but Zombi U was published by Ubisoft, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate by Capcom.

Was mostly thinking of Marketing wise.

But let's be honest the system to beat this year and next will be the Playstation 4. Its the best price of the three and has the most game announced.

I agree that ps4 will win.(but i think wii u will sell second in the long run because its 200!! dollars less then the X1 and 100 less then the ps4.)

And here is the problem with comparing consoles on a strictly nintendo criteria. titanfall is also going to pc so...does it still count? well, for the purposes of exclusive lists alone, NO, it doesn't count. For the purposes of titanfall being a console mover, i'd probably bet my metaphorical farm on it counting. see nintendo's first party exclusives do most of the console moving, whereas, xbox and sony platforms generally sell just as many consoles off 3rd party, non-exclusives as they do on their exclusives. If not more. so thats why comparing JUST "exclusives" will tilt the balance to nintendo every time.

Titanfall is even coming to 360.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

This is what I mean though, we have come full circle back to the main point. Alot of those games people are padding the PSONE lists with you can get on PS360 & PC... The WiiU games you can only get on WiiU plus there is more you can add to my outdated list

3rd parties aren't bound to Xbox One and PS4, though. If 3rd parties find it worthwhile to port, they WILL do so.

The only thing in the way is popularity of the console, and that seems set to be taken care of, pretty soon here.

There's already 4 million consoles in people's home, right now. If they can get a crazy ammount of sales this holiday, the Wii U won't be ignored. Besides that, it will undoubtedly have a larger install base, because it was released a year earlier.

I wouldn't take this last year too seriously, because doing so would be ignoring the situation completely.

Titanfall is even coming to 360.

probably, there's even rumors that it will eventually get to ps4. but that doesnt change my main point that comparing consoles on exclusives alone will always tilt nintendo's favor. because sony & xbox dont rely nearly as much on exclusives to move their consoles. and thus dont need to focus on exclusives as much up front, and can scatter them out because they know 3rd party, non-exclusive games will help move large amounts of consoles

http://www.titanfall.com/buy/xbox-360
not probably it is coming to 360

And that is why I am ok With Wii U and PC. I only miss the exclusives from the others

Yes, and your main point is as irrelevant as it is correct. that is to say it is very irrelevant, and very correct. the wii u exclusives you can only get on a wii u. I agree whole heartedly. but there is no tangible evidence of any enthusiasm for those titles (except wind waker which has a little enthusiasm 65k preorders). the only place you can get a glass of milk is in the refrigerator, but it doesnt appear that anybody's thirsty. so nobody is going to the refrigerator (or wii u, in this case). Contrast that with over 1.19M preorders for the ps4, alone. thats on an install base of exactly zero. and thats with every single title except for Killzone, and maybe Destiny(I'm not sure) also being released on the ps3. and so i ask again, with all of these stats, you still think the wii u will win this holiday season? and you give me a list of exclusive games on the wii u that people are luke warm on, at best

Kay. Wii U sold over 2 million in its launch months. 1.19 million preorders doesn't mean squat atm

The Wii U is there. There are, and will be more games for it.
People already have it. More people will buy it.

I'm not really sure how the odds are against Nintendo, even in comparison to Xbox One and PS4. The year early that they released the system gave them a headstart. That's a given.

There is no sure thing regarding this topic besides what we already know.
Plus, there's still 2 months until other systems release. That would put the number another 260,000 consoles up. At that point, it would be 4 million.

You'd have to be pretty optimistic to think that Xbox One or PS4 will manage 4 million consoles by the end of the year, which is basically a guaranteed figure for the Wii U.

@Birdboi - Like I said earlier, those 2 Million on the Wii U didn't mean squat because Nintendo fired all their guns at launch and had very little to offer for the next few months. While there's nothing concrete, it's almost impossible for PS4 and Xbox One to be in a similar mess, since they're actually spreading things out more, offering quite a bit at launch and enough through the rest of bext year.
