Topic: The April Update

The April update is coming soon. Does anybody know when?
It shortens load times. Has nintendo said whether it adds anything else?
I remember some speculation about the update adding a true virtual console or perhaps adding wiiware games. Were these baseless rumors, or did Nintendo drop hints?

If anyone knows anything, I'd love to hear something. I'd also like to hear more speculation, if anybody has more rumors to add.

The update will just contain small fixes.

well as the nintendo show 3d seems to be no more, perhaps some more content? Around April 7 is when the club nintendo games expire so we will all have to keep busy playing bioshock and luigis mansion and see!

All we know is "April", and that Nintendo just needs to do a few more tests to make sure everything is running smoothly.

VC games are not a baseless rumor, but they aren't confirmed for THIS update. There are TWO updates coming this spring (before E3), counting this one. We're not sure of everything that will be in the updates, or which one will launch the VC. WiiWare has not been mentioned.

@golephish Nintendolife just had that article about accessing miiverse from pc and smartphone, and they've got a 3DS miiverse article pinned right now, too. If we wedge those in to your rumor it might add an air of plausibility.

Actually this is the spring update and the official page for the Wii U VC said it would officially launch in spring.

Yep. That's my understanding too. Says VC is in spring update at the bottom of the page.

The update adds Earthbound to Wii U...in Japan

Also, I doubt the update itself will add VC. Since the Wii U already has VC games, there's no reason to have an update for the VC

I heard the update is coming April first, and they will be giving out a free demo of SmashBros. Wii U.

nintendo did mention that we can have the choice to move vc titles over from wii to the wiiu, although at an extra cost. this is more than likely what the update includes.
i would hope that nintendo has finally got the snes fx chip emulated properly and can release those games too.
