.. me again. What do I mean by that title?
Well I opt for everyone who has some favorite game on another platform to write that developer, express your fascination with the game and suggest the support of Wii U and 3DS. Sounds insane? Pointless? Most likely. But in a day and age where communication is easier than ever, we might as well use it to vocal our opinions directly to the sources, the worst thing that happens is that you wasted 5 minutes of your time (and I'm sure we've all been wasting countless hours onto something pointless at this point) and some co-worker puts your eMail into the trashcan. But so what, does it really hurt?

I'm a huge fan of TORCHLIGHT II and would think it would make lots of sense to come to Wii U AND 3DS kinda like Monster Hunter and how Smash Bros will, with some cross-platform-gaming. Torchlight II, now that Diablo III (which stinks) goes PS4 would make a perfect fit to Nintendo and is a brilliant, deep game to boot. That said I just wrote following eMail to runic games, probably you follow suit and may just spark an idea or a little bit of dedication in someone who calls the shots. Just that little chance...

"Dear Runic-Team,
first off thank you for taking the time of reading this. Please bear in mind that I'm from Austria so my english might not be fully up to standard.

I wan't to congratulate you for the wonderful gem that is Torchlight II. Just like the first game in the series it brought me and my friends hours of fun and joy, adventure and exploration. Without further ado I want to propose you my suggestion. Why not bring Torchlight II to Nintendo?
I'm well aware that you're probably not willing to talk about any business-related plans you might have with your IP Torchlight II, maybe something like that is on the cards already. But let me explain why I think that bringing Torchlight II to Nintendo's console would be a profitable and utterly joyful experience for everyone involved, especially the gamers.

As someone knowing the industry I'm sure it didn't pass on you that Nintendo's success with the Wii U and their marketing in the launch year has been… questionable… at best. I'm not to discuss the reasons for success or failure of the Wii U but just want to propose you to think about bringing Torchlight II to the Wii U AND the 3DS. Why? The Wii U will undoubtedly pick up momentum as soon as the big hitters, namely the first party titles of Nintendo, start pouring out. Nintendo meanwhile is desperately looking for third party support and to be honest, now that Diablo III is going PS4 I see a big opportunity for Torchlight II on Wii U and 3DS. With the dual-screen setup it would be an easy thing to keep the main screen uncluttered of any HUD and put everything conveniently on the gamepad. People buying Nintendo consoles - or consoles in general - crave for fun coop experiences. As fun as online-multiplayer might be, couch-coop (or local coop) will always be a thing. Laughing with you friends, having some snacks and a few beers just makes for a grand evening. Torchlight II is such an immense and thoughtful game (especially compared to it's direct competitors) and still easy to pick up and have fun with. It would literally strive on the Wii U platform - at least that is my point of view I just want to share for you to consider. Of course I cannot judge the hurdles involved making a port to Wii U or even 3DS as I am in no way experienced in the field of programming. BUT, look at Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, it did wonderful things on the 3DS and on the Wii U and sharing a save game or playing together with the 3DS's connecting to the Wii U is a wonderful thing that wasn't possible in the past. Just imagine if you could do the same thing with Torchlight II. Local Multiplayer Session with one person on the Wii U with gamepad and TV and 3 others joining the same game on their 3DS. Again, I have no idea how technically viable or financially promising a step like this would be. I just think that Nintendo is awaiting support for their platforms with open arms and has already managed to cement itself an image as a pure "gaming machine" - which might be able to prove rather useful depending on how much the other 2 companies might focus on gaming alone. Sony made some bold promises but especially the european crowd wasn't too wowed with XBOX One so far. Sure, time will tell and with this I will leave this idea, may it have occurred to you already or not, for consideration and thank you for the wonderful game that is Torchlight II, doing everything right where Diablo III fails, I enjoyed (and still do) it on my PC, why not share the glamour with the Nintendo-crowd, it'd make a wonderful candidate for the eShop!

Sincerely,
greetings form Austria
Scollurio"

There is still doubt. Lots of it.

I disagree with this when you're talking about a game like Diablo/Torchlight. Having my HUD taken away from my main screen wouldn't make me happy.

If you find a fact that states this, then I'll believe you.

TVii, Miiverse, streaming apps, Google Streetview. Yup, that screams 'pure "gaming machine"' to me.

Phew... you're some bitter bunch aren't you? As to why spending time even thinking about this is easy. People who are into fishing not only fish at the pond they also read fishing magazines and stroll through shops looking for better bait. People who are into racing cars might also join communities talk about engines or maybe even collect model cars. People that like to play videogames obviously CAN have an interest in the industry as a whole or having a worthwil conversation while waiting for E3 - which is what I encouraged - obviously to no avail - here.

@Aviator
Compared to the state of sales NOW it WILL pick up momentum. There is NO doubt about it. Because it can only get better. Besides I did not want to send an email containing 150% scientifically researched facts, I just wanted to get a message over, obviously the gaming industry as a whole is going down the drain should wonder no one with people as bitter as you.

Besides, fine, HUD in general, so leave the heatlh and magic orbs on TV screen and put the inventory and additional skills on the gamepad, I guess IF Torchlight II was on the cards for Wii U THEY (Runic) would figure out themselves how to best use the gamepad neither needing YOU or ME to tell them.
Its wonderful how you try to hard to pick examples of my "lack of research" form my lighthearted email. So you only believe numbers and statistics and you yourself buy consoles NOT for fun and you don't have any friends to share that fun with. Fine and sad. I don't see any other reason as to why buying a console as having fun with it, but fine, since I cannot prove it, its obviously not a legit argument.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate cross-platform gameplay with 3DS and Wii U compared to the suggestion I made with Torchlight II is "Apples and Oranges" HOW? You could essentialy apply the completely same features, which is what I implied to do.

So you nitpick on the Wii U NOT being a pure gaming machine? Compared to what we know about PS4 and XBox ONE it is NOT so? So you mean to make it a pure gaming machine by definition it shouldn't even have internet connection right? Maybe not even an eShop since you cannot "beat" or "play" the eShop hence it's not a game.

Seriously you seem to be really bored to make everyone around and including yourself butthurt so desperately.

Cheers for that personal attack.

Firstly, I never said "lack of research". That's a fact. Secondly, I can't seem to find where I said I don't buy console for fun and I don't have any friends. If you could point it out I would be forever grateful.

Again, you seem to be reading a different post. I never said that a gaming machine shouldn't have an internet connection. I never said the eShop was a game.

Also, you called the Wii U a 'pure "gaming machine"'. You didn't call the PS4/360 a 'pure "gaming machine"'. Hence the reason why.

Your reply just proved my last point perfectly.
Your first quote was not a personal attack it was just me pondering aloud, sorry you took it as such.
I don't have a study proving my arguments == lack of research. I wasn't quoting you on a word-by-word basis.
So when you DO buy consoles and DO have friends to share that fun with I still wonder what upset you if I pointed out the most obvious reason for mostly everyone to buy a console if you even agree to it. Like I said, you're just trying hard to summon some argument where there is none.
I rest my case with you because ultimately I don't get why you even get involved in something that you don't agree with, can't change it and ultimately cannot get any satisfaction out of it, since none of us seems to be moving one inch!

I don't think it's even possible to question that the console will pick up when more big games are released. People kind of buy consoles for games after all, and the likes of Super Smash Bros 4 will probably at least double current Wii U sales.

As for Torchlight 2 on the system... it's probably a good idea (there's never a reason to say a console SHOULDN'T get a certain game), but arguably a bit unlikely until sales pick up.
