Topic: Suspicious appearance of "Mario Kart 8: Add-On Content Trailer" on eshop

So I was just looking at the recent videos on the eshop and found it (it contains an overview of both DLC packs). Looking at the surrounding videos it must have been put up between December 17th and December 24th. The last time we got a trailer involving all the DLC in a game was Hyrule Warriors (between May 14th and May 21st) about a month before Hyrule Warriors Legends was announced for 3DS, coincidence?

So instead of dancing around the issue for people who want it spelt out for them apparently Mario Kart 8 is coming to the 3DS because of a trailer for the DLC on Wii U.

what!? :/

@Freeon-Leon: Yes, I did mean that. While Hyrule Warriors Legends is a 3DS port, it still has the same effect as more content for the Wii U version as if you buy the 3DS version you get at least the 3DS extra characters/weapons (Toon Link, Linkle, Tetra, King of Red Lions, Skull Kid, Trident, etc.) in the Wii U version for free. So by something new it could be port for another console (NX, less likely 3DS), Mii Racing suits, DLC packs (turns out it wasn't the whole team that went to mobile, only the producer).

@Grumblevolcano: OK then, still I think it's a stretch to assume we'll get more Mario Kart 8 DLC based off that. I think if they were planning more, we'd have heard by now.

Also @Santa a 95% censored swear isn't allowed on these forums? It wasn't meant as an insult either (I think that was clear), just as SpongeBob dubbed it a 'sentence enhancer'. No wonder Nintendo are OTT on the censoring nowadays

Edit: my maths is not as good as it once was apparently. It was 85% censored, and not 95%. I was never too good at conversions anyway. Still you get the point only the first letter was visible I'd say it's hard to be offended by that.

@TheLastLugia I understand it wasn't an insult, but just avoid using the word, 95% (or 85% apparently you're bad at maths lol) censored or not.

On topic, I'd like see some more content, but I couldn't care less about a 3DS port.

@TheLastLugia: While true there's been plenty of other questionable things Nintendo's done regarding announcements like leaving the reveal of the FE Fates special edition to November when many consider the 2 game (Birthright, Conquest) release strategy controversial, the choice not to include an indie reel in the E3 Digital Event when already known titles were seriously bloated, not announcing Minecraft in the November Direct, etc.

I'd love a 3DS port of MK8. It's no gonna happen, though

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Untitled people asking for 3DS ports of Wii U games.... really makes me hope NX is a hybrid that way this divided fanbase problem will stop. Watch it get worse though =.=

I think you're reading too much into this.

There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

Do we really need a port of 8 when we have 7? They still advertise it.

I guess I wouldn't be opposed... but DLC for 8 sounds more reasonable.

Although, if they want to fix 8's difficulty in said port... I won't complain.

Um. Yes??? It's the sequel.

I'd raher have them work on Mario Kart NX so we can get that as quickly as possible on the new console. Or how about a Mario Kart Anniversary Edition with all characters, karts, online mode, a Double Dash Mode and the best courses in 2017? You know, for the 25th Anniversary of the series.

Completely redundant to have Mario Kart 8 on 3DS. I'd rather a Mario Kart 9 for the New 3DS, but I strongly doubt that they'd bother releasing one exclusively for the platform considering that Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is unlikely to have sold particularly well, hence the almost complete lack of any New 3DS games, content or enhancements aside from amiibo (which is now compatible with the old models anyway). The freakin' DSi got more support than this in the form of a platform-exclusive library (DSiWare) and many DSi-enhanced retail games. The New 3DS is perhaps Nintendo's most underutilised handheld console revision to date.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

@GoldenGamer88: Yet somehow new Pink Gold Peach type characters will still be chosen over Bowser Jr., Birdo and other very important characters. Green Bronze Luigi hype!

If NX is 2017, I definitely think more MK8 DLC should happen.

Sooo.... Half Life 3 confirmed?

@Grumblevolcano: If Junior is absent from another Mario Kart game, I will freak out! I have no problem with characters they totally make up but some of the important ones should just be filled up first. It's not like in Smash Bros. where each character takes months to program, I think.

I still don't see any reason in making more Mario Kart 8 DLC over having Mario Kart as a launch title (or close to launch) for NX. I mean, I most certainly would love to see more MK8 DLC and Mario Kart NX as soon as possible but priorities just have to be set in cases like this.

@GoldenGamer88: What's worse is Bowser Jr.'s appearance in Smash is totally Mario Kart inspired (a few of his moves and taunts).
