so i was reading the official nintendo site and the smash bros site - if you go to the controllers section, it says first up "Wii U gamepad - If you are playing alone, you can play using only the Wii U GamePad screen." is this legit? if you're smashing on your own you can't use a gamecube controller or whatever you choose.. it has to be the gamepad? why would that be?

lol you're miss-reading. It means when playing solo you can use the gamepad as your screen and not the TV.

I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke!

It's saying you are ABLE to play only with GamePad — (Off Screen Play.)

They're referring to off-tv play on the gamepad's screen.

I expect what they mean is if we don't have other players we can just play on the gamepad screen without needing a TV on, like a bunch of other Wii U games. That would be messed up if player 1 was only able to use to the gamepad and nothing else.

A lot of information? That's an odd way to say it... Sakurai, are you telling me there are important things in these victory mini-videos, or was this just strangely worded?

Noah, I think it means if you play all of them at once, you can learn a lot from the clips...

God first.

...Really? I mean, that honestly comes as a shocker to me.

In Super Mario Bros. 3, Ludwig was the final Koopaling in World 7 before Bowser in World 8. Then starting with Super Mario World, and continuing into New Super Mario Bros. Wii and New Super Mario Bros. U, Larry has been the final Koopaling boss in World 7. So I guess Ludwig was downgraded, and Larry kept his promotion.

I always thought it was odd too that they moved Ludwig from his World 7 position, because I specifically remember seeing either in the SMB3 manual or perhaps it was a game guide or something, that Ludwig was the oldest (eluding to the reason why he was last). Then Super Mario World came along and moved him to an earlier world which is when I thought it was strange.

Larry was the final Koopaling in Super Mario World only. Ludwig's the last one in every other game they're in. Just to clear that up.

What's the preferred control setup? Analog stick? D-pad? Custom button layouts?

This will be the first time I'll be playing with a classic controller. I imagine I'll swap X or Y out for grab.

I'm use a gamecube controller whenever I get the adaptor but when I get stuck with eventually the Wiiu gamepad...I'll leave it as is. Though with my 3ds I'mma change the grab button from the L button to the y button since my L button is kaput.

For SSB U, there would be a considerable difference between off-TV and on-TV, specially on the larger stages. The TV displays SSB U at 1080p, while the Gamepad is 480p.

Yeah, Little Mac is not broken and neither is Mega Man useless. The balance in this game has been pretty good so far, though I do think some characters can use tweaks to make them more effective.
