The WiiU version has control sticks, a TON of control options (including GC-controller), option for wired internet connection, better graphics, more music... And that's just what we currently know about. It also seems to have more tournament-viable stages than the 3DS-version, so I don't really get why the SmashBoards-people say it's worse than the 3DS-version. lol
Especially since we don't even know every mode yet!
It's funny because the Wii U version is more likely to be the better, or "definitive" version. There's really no way to say that without looking like a 3DS version hater, but it's probably true. I know I'm going to love both versions regardless. Smash Run looks awesome, the game plays and looks great on 3DS, you've got the portable aspect for the first time, the stereoscopic 3D, the music player feature, and easy local multiplayer complete with online as well. The 3DS version is looking great, and you just know that Smash on an HD system has plenty of potential. Though we know little about it, there's already plenty of positives. The fantastic HD visuals, the multiple control options, being able to play all on one screen with a single system and copy of the game, and the return of My Music. The Wii U version will most likely be the "party" version where everyone gets into one room, and possibly on one couch, to have a great time playing/laughing/yelling with each other.
Also, and I keep saying this, I have no doubt that the Wii U version could match or probably surpass Brawl's amount of content. The Wii U version will be a powerhouse of Smash-ness.
I'm going to love both of them. The Wii U version will probably have more content in terms of game modes and music, though, so it'll probably be the better version.
There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

My thoughts exactly.
Same here. I know I'll still play the 3DS version after the Wii U version releases since one does not make the other obsolete. Having Smash portable will itself be a reason to keep playing. Plus, each version has different content. The Wii U version will outshine the 3DS version in numerous ways, but both have their positives, and both have reasons to be played.
Even though most people are way more interested in the 3DS version, it's not that popluar. And I'll explain why:
Wii U footage on YouTube gets WAAAY more views and likes than the 3DS version.
This thread has like 15,000 posts, but the 3DS thread has like... 2,000.
The Wii U forum on SmashBoards has a lot more views, posts, threads, etc. While the 3DS Smash forum gets barley any attention.
Maybe the 3DS version is just a fluke.
Smash Mains:
N64: Captain Falcon
Melee: Mario
Brawl: Sonic
Project M: Link
Smash 3DS: Captain Falcon
Smash Wii U: Ganondorf
I for one, am waiting until the Wii U version releases to buy the 3ds version. Why? Because I want to experience the game on a console first, with all of my friends and siblings. I also don't want to spoil myself by playing the 3ds version months before the wii u version.
Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

@SockoMario Actually, it appeared to me that people were more interested in the Wii U version due to the HD and being on a home console. Your proof reflects that.
I'm sure most Youtube videos of the 3DS version aren't being liked because of the off-screen footage most of them have, or maybe people don't like the graphics, or they could just be sour on the whole idea of a portable Smash without "real" controllers. It could be anything. A good number of the pages in the Wii U version's thread are also discussing 3DS topics, including the recent leaks. This just became the dominant place to discuss things somehow.
If I want to talk about Smash, I have no reason to go to the 3ds page, even if I get the 3ds version.
I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke! My YouTube Channel! Video game related, of course! My Pushmo Levels

@SockoMario The 3ds version is a fluke? In japan it isn't because that version is getting the most attention there, here maybe because it lost it cause i think everyone knows what's the 3ds version of smash bros is going to be about. And i bet that version will sell more than the console one there and maybe here as well.
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
I'm currently playing Assassin's Creed: Revelations & Watch Dogs 2
I don't think even the Japanese well consider the 3DS Version the definitive version, but I'd be pretty shocked if the average Japanese consumer was willing to pony up for a Wii U since the 3DS version still exists.
Do you think the Ice Climbers (if they really are cut) can be implemented through DLC but be exclusive to the New 3DS? Or do you think that will just make fans mad? (Does the added CPU even help towards the Ice Climbers cause?)

Nice data, but you forgot the fact that sales trump "popularity"

I still don't believe three Climbers have been cut due to technical difficulties. I don't think they'd be brought back add DLC, though, if they were, indeed cut. The CPU would help, but the Climbers wouldn't be available on the normal 3DS, if that were the case, so I just can't see Sakurai doing that.
If the characters were cut because of the 3DS' limited power, they can't add them as a new exclusive dlc.
Being mostly a multiplayer game, they can't go around giving some people exclusive characters without updating everyone's games to make them compatible with them.
