Nintendo confirmed at E3 2011 that a new addition to the Super Smash Bros. series would be in development for both the Wii U and 3DS. Hopefully, we'll get to see some footage at this year's E3. The following is a list of characters that I think should be in SSB4. Feel free to comment who all you want to see in the game, but please don't include characters that don't belong to the Nintendo universe. (Ex. SpongeBob, Goku, Spyro, ect.)
1.) Pac-Man*
2.) Waluigi
3.) Bowser Jr.
4.) Toad
5.) Mii
6.) Maxwell (Scribblenauts)*
*I know Pac-Man isn't technically a Nintendo character, but the game is being co-developed by Namco Bandai, so I think he has a good chance.
*Ok, Maxwell probably won't be in the game. Scribblenauts is made by Warner Bros. and 5th Cell, however, the series is only on Nintendo systems and the PC. After all, Sonic was in Brawl, so maybe it's not completely out of the question.
