Topic: Super Mario sunshine remake for Wii U, anyone?

I wouldn't have thought so. We need an original, single-player 3D adventure that makes good use of the gamepad first..

I think a remake would be a waste of resources personally. They can just milk it via the virtual console down the track anyway...

Currently playing: Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Legend of Zelda: ALBW.

I suspect that an appearance on the New 3DS is much more likely than the Wii U.

They started working on a sequel but then they though they needed new IPs so people don't complain of too much Marios and so they renamed the game Splatoon.

That's my theory anyway after I watched the first Splatoon videos

Remakes are nice every now and then, but I don't think they'll make a Mario Sunshine one, especially not for Wii U. Sunshine was pretty contested back in the day anyway (it's somewhat mellowed out over the years, but still) and they've been making more than enough Mario games already. Besides, I think it's time for a new, original Mario with a new concept that is not a sequel to Galaxy or 3D Land.

That being said, even if they do a remake... I would probably buy it. Heck, I have three iterations of Zelda Ocarina of Time in my library...

I'd love to see a Sunshine remake sequel, but I agree with @Trent_Easton on the remake, even though I wouldn't call Gamecube remakes "milking" when most of them never reached a big audience.

You're actually not that far off. Splatoon was originally intended to be a Mario game heavily centered around Bloopers (though there was no straight word of Mario Sunshine), but at some point, the idea shifted. For the better! SPLATOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!

It's there a source for that? Not questioning, is for adding it to a wiki, to an article about Bloopers in fact.

Well, now that you mentioned it, I wouldn't mind an stereostopic 3D Galaxy with lots of planets and planetoids. I always have the 3D on, simply love it even when it adds nothing to the game, and the improved 3D is the main reason I want a New 3DS so much, so I think I could enjoy a 3D Galaxy a lot.

I think it's most likely to happen on the New 3DS or 3DS but Sunshine would truly look gorgeous on the Wii U, just imagine looking at dat ocean in Delfino Plaza in HD

They remade Starfox 64, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Wind Waker. I think they can stretch to Super Mario Sunshine too.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Oh, I was talking about console games for Mario. A 3DS Galaxy is something I would very much enjoy, too! (I'm also one of those people who crank up the 3D. I love that feature and even on my regular 3DS I hardly have any problems with it.)

No.

If they're going to remake anything it should be Super Mario 64. Sunshine was truly an awful game and is one of the few Mario games that I choose not to own.

My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

Jacob717

That'd be nice, since I've never played the game before, or maybe just release it as a VC title so it comes out faster, and doesn't take resources away from other Wii U titles.

Don't think the New 3DS is powerful enough to have GC remakes and before anyone says anything, the quality of visuals in Xenoblade Chronicles is much worse than most 1st party GC games.

I hope not. They need new games not old ones. Every now and then a remake is fine, but I think theyve done plenty already. Put the resources to new games.

Can we PLEASE stop asking this. It's not happening.

You CAN'T switch Sunshine's control scheme to Wii U without sacrificing some of the control over squirting. Nintendo isn't going to remake something if they have to downgrade it to do so.

Yes, the Gamecube adapter exists, but forcing people to either buy or already own a peripheral completely undermines the purpose of an HD remake, which is to create quick and easy cash that holds over fans.

Even outside of control scheme, Sunshine has a lot of issues, most notably it's physics engine, that would have to be fixed, further impeding the process

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

But Nintendo has downgraded remakes. Super Mario 64 DS uses a D-pad which isn't as precise as an analog stick. Donkey Kong Country Returns runs at 60fps, and the 3DS remake runs at 30fps, Wind Waker HD took away the vibrant colors and added in bloom, and Xenoblade for the New 3DS looks worse than the Wii version.

And the purpose of an HD remake is to introduce the game to people who either didn't play it, or wasn't born when it came out, not a quick cash grab. And they could always bundle the GCN Controller adapter with the game. Another thing, getting a GCN Controller adapter and controller is no different from getting a Wii U Pro Controller, because their not sold with the systems, and they will both cost $50.

Can we please stop claiming this? The analog trigger essentially acted as two buttons. Hence, mapping the two different levels to two separate buttons resolves the issue.

The fact that there is a slight bit of variability hardly matters. 99% of the time when using FLUDD, it was with the trigger fully depressed or at the halfway mark.
