Topic: super mario rpg 2 wii u?

haiy. I just got super Mario rpg and a snes cuz mine broke, and I was wondering why a true sequel was never made. I mean yeah theres the paper Mario series but I mean common, that has to be non canon. everyones paper so it cant be the sequel. theres the Mario and luigi series which could be a legit continuation of Mario rpg, but it isn't made by square. so should Nintendo hire square enix to make a sequel on the wii u?

I don't foresee this ever happening. Square actually had a lawsuit against Nintendo to retain the rights of one of the characters from legend of the seven star that was crated by Square. (I think the cloud looking thing) I'm sure this is still a sore issue between them. Such a petty thing really.

If they did make this game, I would think Nintendo would literally name it just like the title. Maybe shorten it to a brisk "Super Mario RPG 2 U", just too make it easier to say, hahaha.

I would love for this to happen but i doubt it ever will. Technically paper mario was supposed to be mario rpg 2 but when square made the exlusive deal with sony during the ps1 era nintendo took the prototype square made and turnes it to paper mario.

The Mario and Luigi series is the most legit continuation of Mario RPG. Paper Mario was built off rpg 2's prototype. but to be honest, I'm Mario'd out right now.

Never say never. Nintendo has been touting the different partnerships they've been doing and plan on doing with third party characters, But to be honest if they were to Partner with Sqaure I would hope its on a whole new franchise.

Really? They should reintroduce a third Mario RPG series? There's already two (why there's two, I don't know). How many do we need?
