This is going to be really long.
Super Mario galaxy is over. its already been done twice and Nintendo needs a new idea, not a sequel to 64 or Sunshine, not a remake, a new idea. well i have an idea, and personally i think it's pretty good. Mario has already been to space, a tropical island, and the mushroom kingdom, so where will everyone's favorite plumber go now?
well my idea is that Mario (and Luigi) are shrunken down by whoever (most likely bowser) and the game takes place within a toads house, you must collect stars to power a machine that would make you regular size again. this game would be 2 player co-op. one player on the t.v., one on the game pad. and it would return to the style of 64 and Sunshine with giant worlds to explore and many stars and secret stars to collect in each world. and lets face it 120 stars is not enough, they went past it in super Mario galaxy 2 and i think that was a good call. so there could be a living room, bathroom, boys bedroom, girls bedroom, backyard, basement, kitchen, attic, park, sewers, there are so many good ideas/places, but hopefully they don't put too many places, i felt that was one of the biggest problem with the super Mario galaxy games. i think it would be cool if Mario and Luigi had to work together sometimes, but you could also split up, and of course there would be a single player option as well. new power ups could include a Velcro Mario that could stick to things and such, paper could be floaty and and turn thin, and a sponge that could slide, float on water, and wash stuff.
since The Bros. are now small there couldn't be toads and such to talk to, although maybe you could talk to the residents of the home, but now you could talk to toys, and drawings come to life called doodles. and every Super Mario game has really fun controls so i would like new mechanics, keep roll from super Mario 3D land and maybe add grab or dash or something. also it would be cool if the game was open world, but if it wasn't it would still be awesome. the hub world could be the living room. maybe some of the bosses or half bosses would be regular enemies from Mario but now they are huge because you are so small, such as a goomba. there would also be some secret levels off the hub world such as a mouse hole, or inside a TV. What ever Nintendo does it will no doubt be good, but i think this would be a great, and fun idea, especially with beautiful HD graphics, and the big worlds this new system can handle. So what do you guys think? give some thoughts, ideas, and criticism.

I think that there's a powerup called Mini Mario that would make people wonder why exactly this game exists, if this were to exist. Also, Mario could simply eat a Super Mushroom and transform into Super Mario, which in NSMBU and NSMB, makes Mario Super Mario even if he's Mini to start out with. I think this game would basically be breaking down the physics of a Mario game, which I doubt Nintendo would do any time soon, as after he became bigger as you suggested, he'd have to get another idk how many stars and go through idk how many lands to defeat Bowser and rescue the princess of course. So with the game you're suggesting it'd take way too long to complete also, at least for a Mario game.

Also, just a side note, I want to see an HD Super Mario Galaxy. For how good those games are, there sure seem to be a lot of people that dislike the concept of a 3rd Super Mario Galaxy, which I think would fit perfectly on the Wii U.

EDIT: To add one more thing, I don't game with my family, so having a strictly 2-player game in my house isn't a good idea. And probably isn't for a lot of other people.

I and someone else had a very similar idea to this, also named Super Mario Micro. My take on it would be that Bowser uses Kamek's magic to shrink the Mushroom Kingdom and kidnaps Peach again. Mario would have to travel around a giant world fighting Bower, the Koopalings, and Bowser Jr. and meet new characters.

I wouldn't mind a Super Mario Galaxy 3, but an original idea would be best.

Im sorry if i didnt make these points clear but mario would be smaller than he is when he gets a mini mushroom, to fix the problem of him just getting a mushroom and getting big there just wouldnt be a mushroom to make him larger. and getting larger would be the end of the game, not just a random point in it. it would be after the final boss. also i said this game wouldn't be strictly 2 player.

also an HD super Mario galaxy likely wont happen since the game isn't that old, and it wouldn't look that much different. and I'm one of those people that wouldn't like a SMG3. i could go on for an hour why but i don't really feel like it.

First: What I meant was a new Mario Galazy, in HD, not a remake. Duh. Think about a Mario Galaxy...in HD! That'd be wonderful.

Second. So basically, you're saying that at the end of the game, the princess would still be kidnapped and Bowser would still be on the loose? I somehow don't think that's very well thoight through.

Also, actually, you did kinda say it'd be 2-player, without saying solo, implying that you thought itshould be 2-player only.

They already got shrunk in Bowser's Inside Story. After exploring his gut, a toad house seems a step backwards. I almost liked the idea but the setting seems boring. How about a bunch of microscopic worlds that no one knows exist, a la Horton Hears A Who?

i can kinda tell i sounded mean so just letting you know I'm not mad at all I'm just explaining. i still wouldn't like a super Mario galaxy 3 , like i said i don't feel like going into that right now it would take forever. and i did mention there would be a solo option in my original post. and you would save the princess. maybe Bowser gets shrunk too, maybe you shrink him, then verse him.

ya i can see where you are coming from. ( personally i loved Bowser's inside story, but i thought the inside of Bowser looked a little bland, but i liked the idea and it was super fun) but think of the house as like the one from Chibi Robo mixed with the toy time galaxy from SMG.

This just sounds like Chibi Robo... with possible jumping.

The Legend of Mario: Micro Cap.

I sort of like the idea, although it has been done before to an extent. Remember Mario Party DS? That had a story similar to this, with Mario and co being shrunk down and exploring areas like a garden, music room, library and pinball machine at micro size.

It also reminds me of Super Mario Land 2's Macro Zone, that house where everything was massive compared to Mario.

But it could be a good direction to take if done well.
