Topic: Super Mario Galaxy 3 or Super Mario Sunshine 2?

Id like Mario to do the Banjo actually.
Exploration, collect-a-thon, non-linear levels. Mario 64DS also introduced a very interesting concept:
The Banjo Kazooie games were made interesting because of their unlockable abilities. SOme were mandatory to explore levels further, others just enhanced the gameplay as a whole. Mario and Co. dont really have that potential, but the cast as a whole is pretty rich. Mario 64DS gave you these abilities in form of selectable characters to unlock. And / Or you could give every character unique power ups and ridable companions.
A traditional Yoshi, a Lakitu, maybe even a Cheap Cheap.

So every challenge requires a different combination of character and companion. Think of it like a Paper Mario game with more emphasis on Platforming (no, not Super Paper Mario)

Thats what i like to see, a bigger Mario platforming adventure. Sunshine is probably my absolute least favourite Mario game because of its awkward physics and annoying stages and we already had two Galaxy games.
That said, we also had 2 3D Land/World games and two console version of the NEW series.
Its time for a new approach.

I never played Sunshine, but give me a break. Of course Galaxy 3.

An original game.

But if I had to choose it would be Galaxy 3, since SMG2 is my favorite 3D platformer.

Another game like 3D World, with a battle mode to add replay value, sorta like Mario vs Luigi in NSMB

I will update this when Half Life 3 arrives. [Started 17/11/2015]

I agree. The 3D Land/World design is my favourite type of 3D Mario game. But if I had to pick between these two, I'd go for Galaxy 3.

My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

Galaxy already had a sequel so my choice is Sunshine 2. Or, just give us a non-linear Mario adventure.

It would be great if David Wise made soundtracks to all future Nintendo games.

Bring the originals to VC, let sales decide. Personally, I want both

Yessssss, this guy knows the score. I love SMG. Love both games to death, but I almost always prefer an original idea over constant revisists to the same motif.

As much as I smack talk games like Majora's Mask, I IMMENSLEY appreciate how much of a departure it was from other titles in the series. Different is usually a very good thing, even if I don't appreciate the bosses or dungeons It helps you appreciate different titles in the in the series. People don't usually pick their favorite Madden or CoD.

IDK about the car, but I think the final boss of 3D World is meant to follow the same style as 3D Land, which itself is a more intense and climactic variation of the throwback "press the switch" boss battles in the game.

I would love a direct sequel to Mario 64. I mean, we nearly got one in the Nintendo 64 days... and then it just fell apart and ended up as resources for non Mario titles.

And definitely more 'real' Bowser battles in 3D. Seriously, the chase scenes and swtches are getting annoying now, I want to see Mario actually beat Bowser up physically like in the RPGs, or at least toss him into bombs and obstacles like in Mario 64.

Super Mario 64 2 would be perfect for the Wii U. Super Mario 64 and its DS remake are very open and explorative, and Nintendo has gone away from that and to me the releases have been regressing since Galaxy. The castle can be fully updated, with nearly an entirely new set of paintings, some of which could reference Super Mario Sunshine and Galaxy. As far as power-ups go, bring back the caps, Mega Mushroom, Fire Flower, Ice Flower, Boomerang Flower, Gold Flower, Cherries, Rock Mushroom and so on. Bowser battles need to go back to being actual battles too, and I think Super Mario 64 2 would be a highly polished hit.
