Yeah, don't think so. And it might be sexist to you, but it's a completely legitimate reason. Next you'll say that reading your favorite magazine instead of Cosmo is sexist, or not wearing ladies clothes is sexist.
That is not a legitimate reason whatsoever. You're saying that girls inherently aren't cool, they have to act like boys in order to be accepted. That is blatantly sexist. Now I don't consider myself a feminist or SJW by any means, all I'm saying is that you should just accept the character for their own merits instead of blatantly writing them off because they don't fit a narrow minded archetype (seriously, I'm getting sick of the pervasive dudebro mentality in this industry, it's utterly toxic).
I agree with you, Bolt_Strike, but since many Wii U owners sadly have the mentality that Rosalina isn't as cool as Mario, because she's a girl, or whatnot, a Mario game would probably sell more.
I would actually love a Rosalina game. I think Rosalina is one of the most interesting characters in the Mario universe, and a character that could fit multiple of new gameplay ideas.

Gotta say I agree with dumedun there. It's got nothing to do with her being female at all. She's just not as cool a character. Lara Croft, Samus and Bayonetta are cool female characters. They're designed to be the lead. Peach and Rosalina are definitely not. A cartoon princess who wears a dress and carries a wand just isn't the iconic role that's gonna sell a serious number of games with a male majority audience (and probably wouldn't with a female majority audience to be honest). That's got nothing to do with any kind toxic dudebro mentality (dudebros don't talk about games online), it's just a realistic understanding of social attitudes.
(sorry Morpheel, didn't see your comment til after I'd posted)
Bolt_Strike must be a recent gender studies graduate and/or frequent browser of Kotaku ^_^
Oh look, the anti-intellectual troglodyte parade that so often accompanies gaming discussion. Of course Mario rescuing peach is sexist; it's the product of a patriarchal culture and society. And if 30+ some games have Mario & Luigi rescuing Peach, then that's obviously proof of that. Ignoring that fact is the same as looking the other way for any social issue; poverty, homelessness, wasteful unemployment, etc.
While there is a clear problem in the representation of women in video games, I don't think there's anything inherently sexist about the kidnapping plot device in Mario games. In order for sexism to be present, I think there needs to be some implication that Peach is a useless character because of her gender. There isn't, as far as I can see. It's just an age old trope where royalty are hopeless idiots that need a "commoner" hero to save the day. The kings of the Mushroom Kingdom have also always been portrayed as incompetent fools.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
It's 2015, mang. There's a new Fate series with bad translations to make fun of.
I'm not sure that's the translation so much as it is the Fate series' writing. OH *****, we're off topic again! THE JUMP, talk about how high Mario will jump FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.
I'm a little skeptical that they'd be able to release Galaxy 3 in 2015, but other than that I agree with him. It's highly likely that Galaxy 3 is on the horizon.
I'd be ecstatic if it was. But I'm not gonna take the Wii games as any sort of hint. They're just two of the most prominent wii games, so it makes sense to release them on the Wii Virtual Console. I mean if it is a hint, then Metroid Prime Trilogy is a hint at a new prime game, since it was the first one to go live next to Galaxy 2.

New Punch Out confirmed
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
