Nintendo usually release one maybe two Mario platforms per gen and since they already have NSMU and SM3DW I doubt a other one will be made.
I have to respectively disagree. Both NSMU and SuperMario3DW imo don't constitute for a full scale 3D adventure Mario game. If anything, history is on our side in terms of getting that new Mario game. N64 had Super Mario 64, GameCube had Super Mario Sunshine and the Wii had Mario Galaxy 1 & 2. The wii u doesn't really have that type of Mario game yet. I believe we'll get a new Mario adventure game but I don't think it'll be Mario Galaxy 3. Amongst those games I've mentioned, Nintendos never carried on a specific Mario series from one console to the next( only regarding the Full Scale 3D Mario Adventure Games).
Yes to new 3D Mario Adventure Game
No to Mario Galaxy 3
Are my predictions.
History isn't on your side at all. Just because you like to make up fake criteria for what is or isn't a real Mario game doesn't mean that Nintendo follows that same criteria.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
I would certainly welcome Galaxy 3. Although would rather see something new along the same lines as 64, Sunshine and Galaxy. The next iteration of that series.
Trinen already stated that there won't be a new main line Mario at E3 iirc. SMG3 is a game that could happen, but as for when, no one can be sure.
All he really said was that there wouldn't be a new mainline Mario releasing this year, not that there wouldn't be one announced for 2016 or something (not that I think there will be one announced at E3 this year).

Exactly!
I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Except the difference between past console patterns and this gen is that in past gens, the collectathon games were the first Mario games we got. This gen it's not, it's not even the first 3D game we got. So I don't think they really consider 3D World not to be a full scale Mario experience. I think what the collectathons do have going for them though, is that they're a different gameplay style from the NSMB and 3D series games (3D Land/3D World) and almost no one else on the market is making them. Additionally, I think the gravity gimmick is a unique mechanic that they probably don't want to throw away, and probably wouldn't fit other Mario games that well. So I think there's a good chance we will get Galaxy 3 on the Wii U, and if not that, then they'll take Galaxy and turn it into a Rosalina spinoff.
I'd rather this would be a completely new game with a completely new world with Mario meeting completely new characters as well. I'd love to see more characters like Rosalina or Nabbit rather than just more of the same gang. But the chances for such a game are not great.
I have to agree with this. Some new characters would be nice and a new storyline.

Me too. It'd be a great breath of fresh air, although I'm not confident in that happening quite yet.
Anything that isn't in the style of 3D World or the NSMB series is what I want. If they feel the need to add in co-op again, make it online. Of course that would never happen, but a man can dream.

Of course history is on our side. Wii( Super paper Mario, New Super Mario Bros, Mario Galaxy 1 & 2. That's four Mario games right there, ALL Platformers!
I hope it isn't Galaxy 3 would prefer a new 3D Mario more in the vain of Sunshine and 64 ie open.
Super Mario Galaxy is open.
Not quite. You have some room to explore individual planets, but most of the levels on the whole are not very open ended, you proceed along a set path hopping from planet to planet. It's not like in 64 or Sunshine where you could just wander around the level any way you want.

Not really. Sunshine is an open world game in comparison to Galaxy, 3D World, and their collection of floating, mostly linear pathways. I would like to be able to explore a good 10-20 large, fleshed out environments like in Sunshine and, to a lesser extent, Mario 64 again.
