Topic: Stream video from PC to WiiU options?

Has anyone attempted this? I remember some time back about a website that did stream broadcasting from the PC that could be played through the Wii's Internet Browser, but I can't recall the website, but I do remember that it wasn't really used because of how limited the Wii was, especially with through the Internet Browser. Now, we have the WiiU, meaning a lot more horsepower allowed by its own Internet Browser, but also some time for other possible programs to do the same thing. I had heard about making a VLC server, but looking through documentation for that, I became more confused than when I started.

Anyone have any suggestions (preferably free options for private network streaming)?

edit
Perhaps "stream" isn't the right term, as I'd like to control what I play through the WiiU's Internet Browser.

Well, I was able to get broadcast streaming working on the WiiU through my computer running VLC (version 2.0.3 working, 2.0.4 crashes with the transcoding setup designated). Going to attempt to get VOD (Video-On-Demand) working, but if I can't, then I have another idea via playlists and the web interface.

I was really hoping this functionality would be there out of the box... something like windows media center (but not as crappy) would have been nice.
