Topic: Straight Right interview about porting to Wii U

Thought I would put this here, seeing as most third party games are badly coded on the Wii U and alot of the readers here complain about NL reporting bad news on Nintendo, thought it would be nice to have the words of some people who actually know how to code for the Wii U:

If they were to make another port, would like to see them have a crack at Tomb Raider, that game with the gamepad would be mint I think

I completely agree with the Mass Effect event. Everyone was complaining about that... They would have had to rework all three games individually to make a trilogy edition work. I'm pretty interested in Dues Ex, TBH. If I have some extra cash to spare in the coming months, I'll buy it for sure.

I think alot of opinions lean towards new games though. I'd say any of the ports Wii U has gotten are definitely the best, but there's got to be a point where we either get ports of Xbox One/PS4 games, or games specifically designed for the system.

Beileve it or not, ports of currently released games are a pretty safe bet, and that has nothing to do with technical differences between all of the 8th gen systems. Not to mention that ALL the 8th gen systems will offer the a second screen option. If anything, having the Wii U will push developers to indlude the second screen option more effectively, which will encourage consumers to take advantage of a feature they have to pay more for(PS Vita, Smartglass).

But people don't have to pay more on smaryhlass since literally every platform its avaible on has more market share than the Woo U.

With that said I feel Mass Effect would have sold better with all three games. If they are working on another game I hope its another RPG to get more on the console.

WAT!

I guess that's one point for Microsoft, then.

You still have to buy the PS Vita for PS4, though.

Deus Ex is the best non-Nintendo game on the Wii U, no doubt about it.

Granted the original is one of my all time favorite games and is definitely superior to Human Revolution. Still, I'm blown away by how well they've recreated an authentic Deus Ex experience in all aspects other than the story (Human Revolution is merely concerned with telling a great story rather than attempting to tell you about yourself and your place in society). The gameplay has been a little too streamlined in some respects, but the level design is so consistently on point, I can't believe it.

I never thought we'd see another legitimate Deus Ex because of how thoroughly it established and explored stealth mechanics without enforcing, or even necessarily encouraging a particular play style. Human Revolution accomplishes that and even manages to take the classic cybernetic-sleuthing gameplay to new heights.

Without a doubt Deus Ex: HR Director's Cut is a must own if you haven't played it. I envy anyone in that position and can't recommend the Wii U version enough. The integrated DLC improves the progression, storyline, and overall game. The improved boss battles can't be overlooked in this regard either, in that they greatly enhance the cohesion/flow. And all the little Gamepad features really enhance the Deus Ex experience on consoles.

Kudos to Straight Right for an enviable port of a modern classic. Wii U owners should be thrilled we received a greatly improved port of one of this generation's absolute best games. Actually it's not just a port, as they fixed the flaws in the game design, consolidated additional content, and adapted the experience beautifully to the Gamepad. (Off screen Deus Ex has lit my desire for a handheld iteration too because I literally want to play all day and the Gamepad nearly lets me scratch that itch.)

Now play it.

Thats your opinion, Assassins creed 4 is MY favorite game on the system so far for single player, smash bros will take the cake for online multiplayer

I don't mean to be "that guy", but with regard to Mass Effect, I find the explanation to be kinda disturbing because he partially lied. Only the 360 version didn't have to have any work done on it as the series from start to finish were all on that system.

They did a great job with porting Mass Effect 3 to the Wii UI thought despite the face I am not really huge fan of the game or series in general. I'm tempted to pick up Deus Ex someday probably when the price is right for me.

You know, the more I think about...did anyone get the other versions of the Deus Ex Director's Cut either? Like did this version actually sell anywhere on any system?

Far as I know, the sales have been paltry all around. I've also heard the 360 and PS3 versions are glitchy and poorly-optimized. Unfortunate the Wii U version was held off until the holiday season to allow for those ports, stripping it of what little novelty it had and thereby ensuring it would fail to sell.

I also think retailers might have carried it last spring, but now they carry so few new third-party releases... It's really no where to be found on retail shelves.

Just that part sounds quite familiar......

@Discostew: True, but the delay of Deus Ex was particularly obscene.

It was delayed barely a month after being announced to re-release on 360/PS3 with pidgeon-holed features and poorer performance. At a cheaper price (still twice as much as the original release's current price and after PSN+ game it away for free).

To think they would pass up the chance to have the whole Summer as one of the few days top-notch releases on Wii U to re-release on other platforms during a busy season (GTA V) and then undercut the price with cheaper, substandard ports...

Even recalling it now seems so surreal. Makes me appreciate that we can even play it in such a definitive form. The old boss battles being such obnoxious interruptions, the excellent DLC combining seamlessly into the plot progression, and the gameplay so perfectly suiting the Gamepad.

I can't stress enough how sweet it is to have such a great game so carefully enhanced.

So are they were on all but confirmed Tomb Raider port for Xbone/PS4 and if so will it be coming to Wii U?

Also I'm calling it now that one of their projects is porting the first two Dragon Age games to xb1 and ps4.
