Nintendo and Nintendo console owners have had a long and mostly turbulent relationship with 3rd parties, and never has it been more glaring then it is now with the Wii U.
Recent comments and actions by Ubisoft have prompted me to post this topic. It seems they've fallen into the same bloated, arrogant role as mega publisher EA. Rather then respecting various console owners over the long term (like they seemed to do in the past), it's make a quick buck and move on. I don't need to chronicle the endless string of decisions that leave a bad taste in the mouths of Wii U owners from pushing back release dates at the 11th hour to multi-port Rayman Legends to their recent statements about withholding a finished game (probably some Rabbids shovelware) until the user-base is larger and the as of yet unreleased Watchdogs for Wii U with no set date in sight.
Okay, you know all this, but what's this got to do with Call of Duty, right?
Well...when people say "Ubisoft is the last 3rd party to support the Wii U" it's just not true. Activision is. That's right. Activision is the last major third party to support the Wii U with games like Call of Duty and Skylanders. Not only that, but unlike EA and UBIsoft, Activision corporate officers and developers aren't out there trashing the WIi U and acting like smug fanboys on their twitter feeds.
Will the next Call of Duty come to the Wii U? I really don't know...but if it doesn't it won't be amidst a storm of broken promises, childish public attacks, and stupid twitter comments. It simply won't be announced and we can move on with our lives.
I'm sure these companies don't really care if MicroSonyTendo fanboys attack or defend them... As long as they keep taking cash out of gamers pockets then it will be alright
I just don't understand why you made a topic about this.
Why is it such a bad topic?
With all the recent talk about Ubisoft and third parties in the post E3 atmosphere, it seems like a perfectly reasonable topic for discussion.
Sounds like someone is really going out of their way to make an issue out of a perfectly reasonable topic for a video game related forum.
Tell you what...say this on the 999th topic begging for F-Zero, or Majora's Mask or whatever the demanded remake du jour is...until then your useless comment about how useless you think this topic is has been duly noted.
I still can't believe people are waiting for the new COD to come for the the wiiu.
Are they?
I'm not so sure anyone is. I think the only real interest is in whether it will happen or not. Mostly it's just the typical gaming "journalists" stirring up non-troversy on slow news days.
Great, now Activision is bringing watered down versions of their games to Nintendo consoles! 3DS and Wii U will be the only systems without online multiplayer in Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark!

I guess what prompted me to make this topic was how Ubisoft is quickly becoming as bad as EA for their practices and lack of professionalism, while it's Call of Duty that gets all the flak (no pun intended).
What my intention here was, is to put something in perspective by providing a counter to a lot of what I hear on these very forums and around the web. Don't get too caught up in trying to pretend we're "above" all this...this is where I hear these discussions often get heated.

What were the bad practices? Ubisoft has, by far, been more fair in Wii U treatment than any other 3rd party.
If anyone wants to play AC, I fully support buying whichever system that has that for them. If Activision keeps releasing CoD on Wii U, then that's fine, but I won't be buying anymore.
I'm not against these games coming to Wii U, but I also won't actively think they matter.

There is usually a pretty fine line between fair practices and what the customer might perceive as 'screwing you over.'
About the only thing I can say about Ubisoft is that they are very high profile as third parties publishers go.
While I admit that their behavior recently has been really crappy, I still have a major soft spot for them due to ZombiU, and more recently, Child of Light.
I will say that hating Ubisoft makes way more sense to me if you play on PC. Ubisoft's biggest problem has been that they are crazy worried about piracy so their relationship with PC is...kinda insane.

Just think about it.
True. Activision isn't as bad as some say they are. They're okay, and CoD haters can have their opinions. For that matter, I think it's overrated myself, but it's not a bad game. The game works, it's generally well-balanced, etc. Battlefield 4 on the other hand...Anyways, that's what I have to say on CoD. Even if it isn't your thing, it's good for what it is. As for Ubisoft, they aren't as bad as you say they are. Yeah, there's some opinionation, but let's get started. I'm almost certain they would've made a loss on Rayman if it it was Wii U exclusive. However, Microsoft has a rule saying that games cannot come out on other systems first & Xbox later. That's why Metal Gear Solid has the Substance versions. Not that cynicism opens your eyes to that, though it is worth noting they could've done something similar to that, but only by giving Xbox the Wii U exclusive levels. As for Watchdogs, they clearly didn't want to piss their fans off with another delay, so they chose the least popular systems to have unpolished or delayed again: PC & Wii U. Sad, but true. Asking for them to prioritize you is like saying screw over 80% of gamers for the 20% including me. I've seen it. Yeah, Ubisoft was screwy with the PC version of Watchdogs, but some of those gamers were so pretentious and elitist it was obnoxious. Delay it, they hate you. In need of a patch, they still hate you. Cater to them, you just hurt 80% of gamers for 20%. It's a hard truth some refuse to suck up. Sad, but true. Lastly, Ubisoft at least has the decency to support the Wii U. As bad as EA? Yeah right.
@VincentV Wow, you just saved me a lot of typing AND brought some points I didn't even consider! bows deeply
And yes, I can wholeheartedly agree with you here. Ubisoft doesn't deliberately screw up - they're in a difficult position among the gaming market, and make decisions in favor of the most first while not forgetting the few (Sentinel Prime said something similar once, I think).
Hyrule Warriors is going to be one of the best selling games on the Wii U this year. It's most likely going to outsell every Activision game on the Wii U combined. Doesn't that make Tecmo Koei a major third party developer on Wii U? They also have Fatal Frame 5 in development.
Never really understood why EA, Ubisoft, and Activision are the only three companies anyone bothers to mention when we talk about third party support.
