@Mickeymac, you never know. Some people are extremely protective of the old games that Rare worked on. I just personally think Retro is better than them in every possible way.

But they haven't worked on any thing too comparable. Its apple to oranges.
For example I think the prime series and Dckr is better than almost everything this gen. But I think Viva Pinata kills any thing retro has woorked on but they're too different genres right.
WAT!

They still count. Otherwise you're right. It's sort of difficult to compare Jet Force Gemini and Banjo Kazooie to anything Retro Studios has done. Maybe Perfect Dark to Metroid Prime but that's sort of stretching it.

What's wrong with Mario Kart 7? It's at least quite a bit better than Mario Kart Wii.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

I think that this simply isn't logical, two huge franchises like this should never be merged even if it is for one game. Retro as a company would make more money if they simply released a Metroid game and Star Fox separately. It does not make sense finically, and if this turns out to be a bummer it puts both IP's at risk. This would not be in intelligent business decision.
Seeing what Retro did with DKCR alone has me more than convinced of their capabilities. I'd be stoked to see a Star Fox game by them. I'll probably be excited about anything they announce (hopefully they announce something at E3!)
I don't think it should matter "how they met". I'm assuming the video game universe is connected- albeit Nintendo's. I didn't care how Culex showed up in Super Mario RPG, or how Link is in the world of Soul Calibur. Nor did I care the story behind Mr. Saturn, Red Shell, Fire Emblem items and the TriForce and how wound up in the "Great Cave Offensive" in Kirby Super Star. Of course, people consider them cameos, I think it's the same thing. If the rumor is true, I'll be stoked and can't wait to see how the talented folks at Retro pulls it off. And there's always a first time for everything, seeing two Nintendo franchises come together for one game (besides the action-fighter Smash Bros, of course).
I understand if you guys hate one franchise over the other. But c'mon, a little optimism wouldn't hurt, right? And again that's if there's any validity in this at all. Everyone knows Retro is working on something everyone wants them to make. And they've been quiet for a long time since DKCR and co-development of MK7. Don't forget that time where they started hiring for a next-gen game, too. It's clear they're working on something. And I hope it's shown in two weeks.
I think Retro is a great company. I would, however, like to see more work from them
Same here.New IP and thats what Rare did,any how Retro would earn great kudos if they could pull of a fusion game and make it work,2 games in on one disc.if true im looking forward to using the wii u pad to look around the cockpit and hopefully online to.
"So they sent in an assassin. Someone to wipe out any survivors as well as anyone who learned about the secret project. Pigma, James, Anthony, and... Adam. Could one of them really be a traitor? Until I found out who it was, I decided to call the traitor the Deleter." -excerp from Star Fox: Project M
I love this rumour. Combine two often overlooked Nintendo franchises for massive pre-E3 traffic and, almost inevitably, huge post-E3 disappointment. It's genius! I just wish I'd thought of it first.

OUch. Kind of makes me not even want to read that whole article. Just be setting myself up for disappointment.
