Players will take control of Fox McCloud or Samus Aran and track down Ridley, after he attacks a research station and steals baby Tricky.

Metroid is too story-oriented for a cross over. They'd actually have to try to make it work, which it won't. Then there's the completely different gameplay styles...I just don't think it's a good idea, and besides, Retro's done with Metroid for a while, right? So why would they pick it up again, and for a cross over at that?

I wouldn't say eaither one of them is veru story-oriented, so i doubt story will be much of a problem. Gameplay wise it would be very hard to design, but it might work. Retro isn't exactly a bad developer.

The recent ones have been very story-focus, with a lot of lorem creating a very thought out universe. That universe did not include talking animals, last I checked. I really don't see how they're gonna make that work now. Gameplay wise, Star Fox is usually faster-paced than Metroid, unless you count the most divided games in each series, Star Fox Adventure and Other M. Taking elements from one or the other might make them work, but do the fans really want to be reminded of those games?

And you're right that they aren't a bad developer, but cross overs in general are very difficult to do, and only really work out once in a blue moon. Even Kingdom Hearts' story is really, really confusing despite the gameplay working out well.

I hope it doesn't happen, I love both games but crossovers tend to bepretty lame, and it would be weird to see them next to eachother. If it does happen well I hope it all works out.

This will only work if it turns out that Samus is Slippy's mother.

It could work, the story would be dumb of course. But in terms of gameplay, how could it go wrong? Remember, this is Retro.

Chozo? :P But i get what you are saying. But here is the thing, i think having to different universes doing a crossover is what makes crossovers so fun. If the universes were very similiar a crossover would seem kinda pointless. At least that is what i think. And i think having talkin animals in a game with humans is something you just can ignore. Kinda like in the Professor Layton and Pheonix Wright crossover were the characters look completely different from each other but nobody cares.

I have a feeling it's gonna have a typical crossover story where they'll start off dislikng each other but they're gonna end up working together in the end and become friends... lame, cliche and typical crossover story, hope it doesn't happen though.

No, For three reasons.

The first is I have never been a big fan of starfox, would prefer something else. I say let Starfox die and bring in something new, or F-Zero.

seconded is that my image of these two games mashing just messes with my head. I don't think that it could work out for fans of both series, sacrifices would have to be made.

the third is I HATE what Retro did to Metroid. I did not like the Prime games, with the exception of Corruption. Corruption was ok, not great. I don't like the whole first person thing, and the story was dumb (IMHO). I say let Team Ninja participate again, they did a great job with Other: M and i hope they take the next Metroid game full force, and let Nintendo give them full control over it. I would be interested to see what they do with it.

^Don't worry, dude, it's probably not even true, though I will say that if it was, your personal dislike is not gona stop them - just like how my dislike for Ninja Team's story capabilities (or lack thereof ) didn't stop Nintendo from letting them create a story-focused Metroid game that covered Samus' backstory.

Pheonix Wright and Professor Layton works because they're very similar styles of games, and can easily be explained with time travel. The explaining part is where the stories of cross overs usually screw up, and why they have to be similar in style.

I don't see why everyone's freaking out, its probably not real. Even if it is though, it actually sounds cool. If this actually happened, I would be overjoyed. Nintendo needs something crazy and fresh like this. It would definitely attract attention. Yeah it could be an awful game if not done right, but its Retro, it could be amazing. Its probably not going to happen, but nevertheless, its something for me to have wishful thoughts about :p

You misunderstood me. My no was meant to imply that i don't want the game, not listing reasons why it's not possible. And for arguing sake, I loved Other M's story line. I personally thought it was emotional and suspenseful. Spoiler ahead. The ending with Anthony not really being dead was awesome. I literally shed a tear about Adam sacrificing himself, and Samus coming back for his Helmet. Not to mention the emotion behind MB's story, and i am getting off track here, sorry.

Anyway there is no way in hell this is true, it just doesn't make sense. That's it, plain and simple, it doesn't make any logical sense.
