Star Fox on the Wii U has so much potential; I'm honestly hoping for a completely new direction for the series, along the lines of Classic 64 style play fused with the ground-based action-adventure style of Star Fox Adventures. I just want the latter to be delivered better. Whatever the case, I don't want a completely vehicle-based game, but I still want those segments to play an essential role.

Nice article. Thank you.

I loved playing Star Fox on SNES and N64. It's a shame Star Fox Adventures had only a few short shooter levels which were just a shadow of one's former self. I guess the gameplay is timeless and Nintendo should be more courageous than they was at GameCube and Wii age.

Your welcome . Hate to see 1up go as they truly had some nice articles.

@PK_Wonder
I like where you are going with this. I would not mind the great space battles from N64 and some 3rd person planet exploration/action. Maybe give Fox control over the squad Rainbow 6 style.

Far as I am concerned they can reboot the series, expand on the story and offer intense space action mixed with planet exploration.

With they Wii U they have a chance at creating a graphically impressive and large scale Star Fox game and I really hope we get to see one soon. Imagine having 25 or so planets to travel to with branching paths like Star Fox 64, that would seriously be awesome.

I wouldn't mind the on foot stuff coming back again, as long as it controlled a little better than in the last game. However I'd still like it to be prodominantly vehicle based.

Sorry, but I have no interest in controlling a bird, fox or frog in a third-person shooter. Keep Star Fox characters inside various vehicles and that's good enough for me.

The only Star Fox game I have is Star Fox Command for DS, and that dosen't have any land missions "on foot" in that game.
So I dunno what it's like.

I think the main problem with most other StarFox games is with fox being on foot. I really hope we see a new StarFox for the Wii U, but please keep fox behind the stick of an Arwing. I wonder if they've thought about doing an open world style Space Sim? Might be a cool new take. Also having more fighter types to fly and unlock/buy in game (not DLC) would be also be nice.

I really like a lot about Assault (though 64 would of course be my favorite). I just don't think there was enough to Assault. Needs more then 10 levels for one thing.

Assault was a lot of fun. On foot missions aren't that bad, the controls in general were where the game failed. I am fine with on foot missions like what Assault had, most of those levels had a Tank or Arwing in them anyways.

Exactly. People buy Star Fox games for the vehicle combat, not to run around on foot as an animal. Those Star Wars Rogue Squadron games on N64/GC were great until they messed with them and added in all the on-foot crap.

I don't know why anyone would want another Star Fox game beyond just wanting something new aside from the yearly Legend of Mariod crud.

For the same reasons people were interested in many other announced sequels, they liked the previous games? That should... Be easy.

The smaller percentage are like the DNF crowd, they just want it because it's hyped, and they seem surprised when it doesn't live up to their inflated expectations (this is the worst possible example actually, since objectively DNF did suck)

Too easy. It's also not enough. Unless Nintendo can shake up the formula and innovate in the right direction to appeal to a larger crowd, it'll go the way of Kid Icarus.

Hopefully.

I have enjoyed all of the Star Fox titles so I would be interested in a new one. I do like how Nintendo looks for new ways to innovate with well their known series and would look forward to whatever Nintendo does, even if they do almost nothing to the formula.

I want them to go with Command's Marcus idea. That way they could keep going with the story, but it would still basically be a reboot.
