The 2D Arcade Shooter is already confirmed anyway. Probably nothing more than a small mini-game, perhaps a way to spend/earn money. Who knows? But it does exist and can be accessed from the Plaza:

I think the 2D game is about the only thing that has some accuracy. There's an arcade machine in the Plaza, and I believe GameXplain had it in one of their analysis videos.

FWIW, according to NewGAF, this "leak" started as a "gamer's wish list" that was continued as a "leak". Nintendo Direct content has never been leaked. Sometimes, a couple of facts are known, but noone has yet been able to describe the contents of a Nintendo Direct in advance.

IF the Splatoon Direct leak is accurate, I think a demo is a great idea. I personally think team death match mode is a must. I know the argument that Splatoon is not that type of game. Personally, I feel that they should add it and let the players determine the popular online modes overtime.

As for a free game. I'd love that. We will see what happens at Thursday's Direct

It's obvious though that whatever modes are present that Team Deathmatch would be the most popular and hence you would struggle to find people to play with in all other modes. This is why my hype for Splatoon would die down if Team Deathmatch was announced, I'd still buy the game but the lifespan for me would likely be even less than CoD Ghosts (a few weeks).

I think that problem with Team Deathmatch only happens when it is treated as the default game mode. In my experience with CoD Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch are treated as the default game mode. As long as the Turf War mode (I think that is what it is called) is treated as the default game mode, then I think it will be fine. Some people will still prefer team Deathmatch but Turf War would still have players.

By default game mode I mean it is the one that is defaultly highlighted when selecting Multiplayer and most of the game balancing is centered around it. As long as Turf War is the focus for multiplayer then I think it will continue to draw in players. The problem with CoD, and a lot of FPSs, is that Team Deathmatch is the default game mode that everything is balanced around.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
