As many nintendo fans know, nintendo recently released code name: steam demo, despite the game releasing in may. Since this is one of the most hyped new IP for 3ds, it made sense to release the demo early to appease the masses. That made me think: Splatoon is by far the most hyped new IP by nintendo on Wii U (and for some people the most hyped game ever on Wii U). What if they released a demo for splatoon on Wii U soon? Even if it was just the e3 demo, I know I would want it. Leave your thoughts on the possibility of an early demo for splatoon! (Sorry if this was posted in the wrong area. I'm new, cut me some slack!)
Would be cool, and since the Project S.T.E.A.M. demo, I've started to see it as more likely, since even Nintendo will have some trouble introducing a new IP without something to try out on a wider scope than E3.
But I wonder if they'd allow people to test the online multiplayer like in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.

Its very possible, since the game is mostly focused on the online aspect.
I was thinking the same thing. A Splatoon demo would be really good. I was hoping for an announcement concerning this soon after Pro.STEAM demo was announced.
There is still over two months left before the game is released so here is hoping that it happens but I doubt it would.

That I definitely disagree with, Codename STEAM is far from a hyped game. I think Nintendo released the demo to try and make sure people don't forget about it when Majora's Mask 3D and MH4U arrives.
That aside, I have mixed views on a Splatoon demo. As something to try out, yes it would be a lot of fun and I'm buying day 1 irrelevant of whether a demo comes but I'd be concerned that a demo would show too little/much of the game. If it's a multiplayer demo then there would be the typical "same stage" issue that virtually all multiplayer demos have but if it's a single player demo then you don't get to see how the multiplayer works.
2 maps, with limited customization. I would still be all over that. They should definitely test out the servers before the game launches.
Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

I wouldn't personally know how the game has been received by anyone else, but my friends who all have 3ds are looking forward to the game. Could be just us, though.

Definitely better than the e3 demo idea. Not only would this solve Grublevolcano's worry, it would be perfect for showing the game w/o revealing too much. As for the customization, you would have all the basic weapons, just like monster hunter 4 ultimate demo. They should also include a little bit of the singleplayer experience in the demo. Here's hoping this isn't all speculation that's proven wrong!
A lot of multiplayer-focused games these days like to do public beta tests. Nintendo really ought to do something similar, even if it's a Club Nintendo exclusive singleplayer + limited multiplayer demo again like Monster Hunter 4.
To be honest, and I know some might disagree with me on this, but I would rather not have a story mode demo. I want that to be an entirely fresh experience, I'd rather they focus on multiplayer, which is where the bulk of the experience will be.

I agree. The main reason to have singleplayer in the demo would be to appeal to the people that want to only play singleplayer.

They should run a beta for like a week a month or two before launch with a couple of maps and progress being transferable.
Oh yes! Transferrable progress would be awesome! But I guess it also wouldn't be fair to people who didn't get to try the demo. But on the other hand, if the demo is available to everyone, and not just exclusive, then I don't see why they couldn't have that option to transfer over stuff. But I wouldn't want like an exclusive demo to carry over stuff, because that wouldn't be fair to everyone else.

Realistically a Club Nintendo demo type setup for Splatoon wouldn't work anyway as online shooters rely on a significant amount of people. Standard eshop demo with it being promoted heavily (something like: "Demo will appear shortly after this presentation" and remind people on twitter/facebook after the Direct).
