I'm disappointed that it will be no voice chat. I hope you can at least write to the team with the gamepad.
Even though it won't stop me from getting this game it's a rather strange decision.

Hopefully there will be possible to play with Pro Controller. Imagine to play 2v2 online with a friend on the same console!

Kinda bugs me that people out there acting like voice chat is the most important thing ever for this game. No voice chat = not worth it apparently. Also, they should just package the game with one Amiibo, I just want the girl Inkling, because, you know...school skirt. lol

well the Girl Inking will be sold separately. If you want the Green Squid you have to buy the 3-pack, which is what I want.

Finding Amiibos alone are nightmarish already, so...getting a girl inkling is pretty much impossible.

I don't think Splatoon Amiibo will be as impossible as Smash Amiibo.

I am sitting on Amazon.com refreshing the page for the 3-pack. So I probably won't be surprised by it. I just think since Super Mario amiibo aren't hard to find and Splatoon, in my opinion, is a similar type of a launch then Splatoon Amiibo will be easier to find than the rarer Smash Amiibos.

One thing that makes me nervous about spending all this money on Splatoon (amiibo+game): Will they turn off the online servers in a few years just like they did for the Wii? This would make the game pretty much pointless.

Don't worry about that. The reason that happened for the Wii is that the company that maintained Nintendo's servers was going out of business.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it too much. Plus, by the time the servers do go down, if at all, it'll be well into the next console's life cycle and there will probably be workarounds you can do to get online again. Assuming there's a lasting community for the game.

The comments section says that Amazon.com in America already went for sale in April 6th. I sure hope they're just saying that so that more people will give up, because otherwise that means I never got my email that was supposed to tell me when they were available.

Does anyone know if you can be shot while you are in squid form reloading in the paint? Just curious, as this would make for a very annoying tactic if you were invulnerable during this.

I think you can be shot, but you're invisible when you're not moving, so it will be difficult to hit someone hidden in ink.

but you are also significantly weaker when in ink if I remember right

Pretty sure you can still be shot while still in the ink, it's just a matter of your opponent finding you.

Still can't believe "online meanies" are why Nintendo isn't including voice chat. PUT IN A MUTE BUTTON!

Also the install base is only like 10 million. I doubt Wii U has a lot of online jerks. and you deal with those kind of people every single day, online and in real life.

The voice chat thing is kinda weird.... I mean... Pokemon X & Y has freaking voice chat. Splatoon should too. Its not a big deal but I would like it if it did.

It is refreshing to hear that the developers have experience with online shooters though.

There are idiots and jerks everywhere. Even Nintendo has them. That said, it isn't Nintendo's jobs to censor us from them. If they're worried about the kids, then let parents decide whether or not their kids can or can't use voice chat. I happen to be an adult. I happen to not like cursing and screaming in my headset, but I also know there's such a thing as mute. You can mute specific users if you want! Amazing!

It's most definitely NOT a gamebreaker for me, but it's definitely a silly move by them.

I do agree that not having it with friends is dumb but I still appreciate Nintendo going against what's expected (despite it being somewhat misguided). I'm usually not a fan of when features are put in because it's "standard" and "required to be a modern game". It honestly makes even good parts of modern gaming feel disgustingly cynical at times, like go against a trend and some people in suits have decided your game WILL fail, your opinion as a developer is invalid.

Also, maybe it's because I rarely use voice chat, but honestly, if you can't make this work without voice chat, you've arguably already failed. I do think voice chat with friends should entirely be a thing and they are ultimately wrong to exclude that, but the idea that it's a deal breaker for anyone is silly.
