Topic: Sonic Lost World is it worth buying?

So I was in GAME a few weeks back looking to buy a new game for either Wii U or 3DS eventually I narrowed my choice down to Sonic Lost World for Wii U and Professor Layton & the Azran Legacy. I decided to get Layton in the end as I had enjoyed the previous titles.

I am still thinking of getting Lost World especially now that Yoshi and Zelda themed DLC has been announced but was wondering how it compares to previous 3D Sonic games like Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, Colours etc.The reviews it has received so far suggest it is not far off Sonic 2006, surely it cannot be that broken?

So what do Sonic fans who have played LW Wii U think of it would you recommend it?

Also are there any other Wii U games you would recommend?
I currently own:

New Super Mario Bros U & New Super Luigi U
Zombi U
Zelda Wind Waker HD
Darksiders 2
Lego City Undercover
Nintendo Land
Super Mario 3D World
Rayman Legends
Pikmin 3

Thanks in advance for your help!

first u shouldnt forget about lost world but since u dont ha e monster hunter ultimate u should rush out and get it since its awesome and u will lose urself in joy playing it hour after hour after hour.

back to sonic i dont know about many of the older sonic games but i own lost world. its really challenging and its better compared to mario galaxy to get an idea how it is. its a good game but not the best in my personal opinion id give it a 8 out of 10

From what I have played it is most definitely worth buying.

Battle.net - Dayman
Steam - RancidVomit86
PSN - RancidVomit86

From what I've played, it's far better than the critics would have you believe. It's different for sure, but I've had a great time with it and would recommend it.

It's not worth playing if you got paid to play it. The controls are broken, the level design is a complete mess, I couldn't even watch the cutscenes, and even the camera is finicky. The levels repeat obstacles numerous times over and over again, like a Flinstones cartoon, and the sense of geography is so poor exploring is nigh impossible. The worst Sonic game I have ever played (Worse than Shadow, Heroes, Unleashed and even Labyrinth).

And yes, I have played it almost the whole way through.

Really? The controls work perfectly for me, I think Sonic controls much better than in Colors or Generations. The level design can range from pretty good to pretty bad, but I never found it terrible. It's a much better game than Shadow the Hedgehog or Sonic Labyrinth in design and in gameplay.

The homing is especially problematic, and it only ever worked when it wanted to (Which was almost never, and never when you needed it), the color powers are un-intuitive, you always need to do double jumps (So much for the simple controls Sonic prides itself on), and Sonic is still momentum-based, even though the level designs could not be any more fitting for that.

Lost World is so bad just thinking about Labyrinth and even Shadow (To a lesser extent) is like a breath of fresh air!

Gotta go with this.

It's an amazing game imo and has been improved with an update. It's a bit on the difficult side for a modern day platformer with some cheap deaths and trial and error to overcome certain parts of the game.

THE CONTROLS ARE NOT BROKEN. Don't believe this lie. There is a LEARNING CURVE to the controls but they are not broken.

Anyway, you may be able to find Lost World on sale for $35 at Best Buy right now (the version I got even came with a code for the Deadly Six DLC which I thought was only a preorder bonus...)

What makes the game amazing:
+Great music and graphics
+Interesting level design (such as a level where you have to lure fruit into food processing blades so that it create a geyser of juice to ride to the next planetoid lol)
+Huge levels with multiple pathways (exploration)
+Funny one liners from the Deadly Six.
"He's so upbeat it makes me want to beat him up" - Zor
+Lots of variety

I'd recommend Sonic Lost World when it's in the $30 -$35 price range. It's a good game but there's a learning curve for some of the parkour moves. Some other games I'd suggest would be Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, The Wonderful 101, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

I have been pondering the same myself. The demo was OK for me. I also heard they addressed some features with a patch, like adding more lives and giving the option to control the Wisp powers with the stick instead of the accelerometer.

If the game ever hits $30 or lower in Amazon, I will get it. I also recommend The Wonderful 101. That one was on sale in several stores not long ago. Regarding Monster Hunter, I would suggest you try it first. There is a demo in the eShop if I am not mistaken.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

The 2 big complaints I see from people that bought the game are:
1. Bad/Broken controls
2. Poor level design.

I think the Yoshi/Zelda DLC is only 1 level right? Its pretty cool they are releasing this DLC, and I'm sure more will follow, but I'd have a hard time paying $35 for a game that seems to be hit or miss with consumers just for 2 extra levels. Probably better off waiting until the price has dropped even lower. I think by this time next year you could probably get it for under $20.

If you're looking for a game to get, I agree with above poster on Wonderful 101. Great game and only 29.99 on Amazon or at Best Buy, Target and Gamestop.

1. I agree the homing attack can be finicky from time to time, but its never been a huge problem for me.

2. The color powers are a lot better now that you can control most of them without motion. They're still somewhat pointless, but at least they're optional.

3. I have no problem with the double jump now that the mechanics are fixed from Colors. Pressing a button twice isn't that complicated either so I'm not sure where you're coming from on that end.

4. Most platformers are momentum based and Sonic has always been one of them, not sure why it would change now. Like I said before, the levels can be hit or miss, but I have no major qualms with any of them.

I understand that it's not a game for everyone, but it is by no means broken or unplayable, it just may not appeal to some.

If you're a ultimate advanced hardcore gamer like MAB then you will love Sonic Lost World... The haters can keep playing their basic kiddie Mario games for all eternity

my 6 year old son had no problems at all with the controls. For that matter neither did I. I am definitely picking it up.

Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword

This is definitely a your-mileage-may-vary game, but from my experience, I thought the game design was indeed broken, and I couldn't find any way to recommend it.

If somebody really feels the need to get the game, they should definitely rent it before they buy it (The demo is only one level).
