I would like to join you guys but I was playing this game for the first time the other day and somehow ended up with a broken ZL button on my GamePad. Now I'm unable to drift so I'm even worse at the game! If I send it to Nintendo then I'll have no Wii U for like a month...

Do you have a Classic Controller? That'll work just fine (I used mine for a bit until I realized my classic controller was slightly messed up, making me do tricks I didn't want to do so I reverted back to the GamePad).
Ah yes, forgot about the other control methods. They don't make it too obvious in the game that you can use them! I tried out the Pro controller for a bit and it works surprisingly well. Plus, now I actually have a use for it!

The Classic controller has the same buttons as the CCPro however the ZL and ZR buttons are not added as an extra layer behind the L and R buttons. They are just tiny buttons next to the L and R buttons which makes them very hard to use. So I think that answers the question of the accelerate button as it's the ZR button. I know that there is a setting in the options menu where you can change the layout of the buttons slightly but you'll always have to use ZL/ZR for something (which was a problem for me with the broken ZL button on my GamePad)
