Why would anyone buy an iPhone 5S when iPhone 4 is still just as capable? That's basically my question. In terms of support from Apple, they aren't doing very much with the new devices they're selling, so I don't see why I would buy an Apple device.

The only device that was properly released from Apple, was the iPod Touch, because you needed a new iPod in order to take advantage of the newest OS. That's why I'm saying that the OS ultimately reflects what a system can do. If iPhone 5S can reach up to iOS 10, they don't really need to release a new iPhone until they move past iOS 10.

Most of the time you don't need to, unless they really want whatever newest features it provides. You really think most people can afford to spend Hundreds of dollars on Gadgets every year? It's more about people who never had one finally giving in and getting a new one, or someone with much older tech upgrading to something new. Otherwise its just the tech heads sheepishly buying it because its new and shiny.

And again, the OS isn't meant to reflect what the machine can do. The OS is just the operating system. It allows the mechine to function. Windows 7 can operate on a range of machines, it does not reflect what the actual machine is capable of. That is what the actual hardware specs are for. (EDIT: Actually, I feel I'm missing something important in this paragraph...)

As for not needing yearly releases, you're right, they don't need that. It's excessive, wasteful, and usually only leads to marginal upgrades. But they can do it, because people keep buying them. For better or for worse, that's how the gadget world works.

Ya, but the amount of money that Apple has isn't going anywhere. Apple should have had their own cellular satellites years ago, if you ask me.

If I ever get a good smart phone, it will be Android. Android phones usually have an SD card slot, more flexible programs, regular USB cable hook up, Android supports multiple hardware(iOS restricted to Apple), etc.

So basically, Android is what I would expect from a device like that, which is why I'm wondering what someone else would use an iPhone for if its potential isn't fully "unlocked".
