It's probably to hurry up and create a new home console and sweep Wii U under the rug.

That would actually be the WORST thing Nintendo could do. "Oh, sorry everyone who just dropped $300+ on the Wii U, we're done with that. Buy THIS instead!" And before you say anything, people have bought the Wii U.

I don’t think Nintendo will pull a SEGA, they don’t want their consumer base to lose confidence in them, that being said,…..

They might release a follow on to the Wii U a little earlier than in most console lifespans (so say fall 2016, which would make the Wii U comparable to the original Xbox’s life)

Assuming the Wii U does end in failure. Consoles take time to take off and the global economy sucks, so it might be longer. But yes, I agree with your point, again, if the Wii U does fail.

GBC Release Date: October 21, 1998
GBA Release Date: March 21, 2001
Both are Japanese release dates according to wikipedia.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

I would rather think of the GBC at just another iteration of the original GB, same hardware more or less, sure, it’s not compatible with the earlier iterations, but still………you know what I mean, the SEGA CD wasn’t there to replace the Genesis, just augment it, push it ahead in technology………..same with the GBC.

Also, handhelds are generally less expensive. Plus, like phones, people tend to go through more handhelds then consoles (barring the Xbox 360, but I digress).

This is why you shouldn't always just buy the newest gadgets. If you upgraded from an iPhone 4, your money is currently wasted. If you upgraded from an iPad 2, your money is currently wasted.

What Nintendo is doing with the VC will probably have to be done for all 4 million of Apple's apps when they finally have to make a better OS that actually takes advantage of the hardware.

Apple is basically doing what Sega did, and has been for the past 3 years.

^I don't think you understand this chart...it's saying that the OS can't be updated past a certain point. That's nothing new, and a lot of programs still support the older generation OSes if they can for at least a year or two after they go obsolete. You basically get 4-6 years out of a device before you can't get anything new. Just like consoles. You can still access iTunes, and use it for that. I have an Gen 2 iPod Touch, and it's still going strong, and if you upgrade from an older machine to a newer one, you can indeed get everything onto a newer one. I was able to import my music to a new iPod Nano just a few months ago, for instance.

That would be suicide.

Something big is defiantly going on at Nintendo. They just got a bunch of Mega Mushrooms, and with those giant mushrooms........wait a minute, giant mushroom?

Man, that's never not funny. I remember when this was announced....nobody cared then either. But yeah it's probably nothing important. If Nintendo is replacing the Wii U now I'm setting mine on fire and moving to Playstation or Xbox in all seriousness.

My point was that iOS hasn't really changed to improve anything. A new version of Windows doesn't come out every year. Apple hasn't improved their OS much at all, and it spans across 3 years of 2 oftheir biggest gadgets.

The hardware may be new on Apple devices, or slightly faster, but the OS ultimately isn't improved fast enough to warrant buying something "new".

Very few apps actually use hardware past iOS 5, so upgrading from that or higher, is technically a waste. Real Racing 3 was an iPad 3 designed app, but it runs on old hardware, so at least 3 devices came out that didn't really need to. They could have sold iPad 2 for 3 years, and still be up to date with their OS.

If Nintendo stopped support on the Wii U, I'm throwing it in the trash and moving onto a PS4. They better have something big going on, but I doubt it. There should be games being announced every other day for the Wii U, but instead it feels like the 3DS gets all the love. I'm growing very weary of Nintendo on the console front.

Are you referring to games in general or stuff you want?

I really doubt that will happen... Look at the 3DS, after a year it was doing about the same, and they turned that around to a massive success, I'm sure Nintendo is hoping to do the same with the Wii U. They will support it with games for many years to come.

Everyone always says that. What they forget is, by this time 2012 the 3DS was already turning around. Not to mention that the Wii U sold worse from launch to 2013 than the 3DS did in 2011.

Yes they do. They come out with a new version practically every week. Every time you update windows, you have a new version. Do you notice the differences? Not always. But there are whole lists of changes if you visit their website, that make them run better, perform new features, and fix problems. That's basically all they're doing with the new OSes on iOS.

SCAR392 wrote:

The new OSes support the new features of the hardware. That's all the new things the new OS has to do to be considered "New".

Just because its backwards compatible doesn't mean that they can't utilize new hardware. That's like saying a new computer game isn't new because it can run on old hardware on the lowest settings.

SCAR392 wrote:

And that's a problem how? I really don't think an OS is what you think it is.

There's no much to think here, Nintendo needs a lot of games for 3DS and Wii U because the lack of 3th party's titles, so they need to keep safe all they friend studios, and well the games need to be done in the better conditions.
