But no, in all seriousness, I can't really see this as a precursor to some big game, accessory, or something that Nintendo could have in store. Business as usual, with a couple of highlights.
increasing the amount of people in its in armies, adding more bases to attack from, gaining new supporters to assist in combat, growing stronger financially and surpassing its enemies. clearly Nintendo is in the final stages of preparation to take over the world.
just a nintendo gamer on a nintendo related site (who wouldve seen that one coming?)
the random user name randomly became a Pikachu.
All of this news came just this week. What is going on?
1. Intelligent Systems did a wonderful job with Fire Emblem Awakening so it's about time they got rewarded with their work and get their own building. Besides they got work to do with Fire Emblem X Shin Megami. More Space means more workers means more games from Intelligent Systems.
2. Next Level Games did fantastic work with Punchout, Mario Strikers and Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon. They know Nintendo Hardware they might as well become 2nd party.
3. Monolith Soft is in the middle of a HUGE WiiU game right now and they're doing the best they can to make it THE must have game for the Wii U. So it makes sense why they would be hiring people right now especially those that have networking capabilities.
4. Retro Studios is a busy studio. They're already starting work on their next project as we speak and require new people.
5. This isn't surprising at all. China just lifted their ban and I guess people want Nintendo.
'
6. This is probably due to Nintendo's 3DS being a Hot item like Sony's Playstation 4. Except the 3DS has heavy hitter games in it's market right now and PS4 has launch cross gen games.
Maybe it's a, holy moly our console isn't selling that well so we better start expanding and making more games asap, type situation?
More likely this has been planned for a while. Though I think Nintendo realized pretty quickly that 2013 was gonna be not so great for the console so it might still be related?

Nintendo: Buying buildings, hiring people
Every one told me I was crazy... but now look who's crazy... hahaha.
The whole story behind that is Sony has a crazy/unsustainable model as a whole. Nintendo does it's thing, and finds a way to make cash based on the one thing they do: Games. Even if WiiU has a slow burn it will very likely be profitable and lead to growth (albeit slow). The Playstation brand is doing great...but their TVs, phones, computers, etc. are all getting spanked by much better and/or cheaper products from other companies. Tons of people are making PS4 out to be a rocket to the top like the iphone/ipod, but in reality it's a life preserver for the rest of the company...
@R_Champ
Not really, even. They messed the hell up with PS3. People may like Sony's consoles and software, but they've been terrible with business decisions for a while. I could go into further detail on what I think the specific issues are, but it doesn't really matter.
All I know is that Sony has started selling speakers at Walmart that are actually pretty good quality, and are the only speakers that are being sold like that, there. I think that's a step in the right direction. They used to only sell these speakers online, and I know, because I bought them before they made it retail.
I'm so down with all of this - bring on that second party goodness. Unique exclusives are exactly what the big N needs, especially since most third parties are afraid of the Wii U by now.

I think they are assembling a death squad to kill all of the people talking smack about them on the internet, along with the retailers who are actually trying to undermine the Wii U and the mainstream gaming media who insist on promoting the same boring identikit games instead of rewarding innovation.
We can only hope.
I only posted this to get my avatar as the forum's thumbnail.

You know, this may in fact be quite deceiving - historically, the great skyscrapers and buildings of the world have been built during prosperous times but then open up in the middle of a financial crisis. Empire State Building (the great depression), One World Trade Center (the great recession), to name a few... When Empire State Building finally opened, nobody could afford to rent its offices, and as such was nicknamed the Empty State Building.
It sounds like Nintendo is gasp making profit over other companies? But we all know that would never happen, ever.
Must be the apocalypse.
