Yes. Heck, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the Wii U version ends up getting cancelled. In fact I'm even anticipating such an event. And to think at the start it was to be a Wii U exclusive.
/shakes head in total dismay
At no point in time was Watch_Dogs ever announced as being a Nintendo exclusive.
It wasn't? Must be another Ubisoft game I was thinking of then. Probably Rayman Legends (which I know for a fact was initially supposed to be exclusive).
Ya it was Rayman. If anything, the fact that it was announced for the Wii-U at all was a bit surprising to me. When it debuted, it was a demo running on a high powered PC, which lead a lot of people to think it was only going to be a next-gen title (PC, PS4, Xbox).
I think thats still the case. I'm guessing the massive delay was from the fact that they couldn't get the game to run as good as they wanted on the last gen systems. That and wanting to tweak the gameplay from the usual ubisoft open world mold.

Ubisoft delays games all the time, where have you been? lol
Sure they do, but don't they usually like to release the game across all consoles simultaneously?
No. They said they would have released Rayman Legends on Wii U, without delay, but Microsoft requires games to be released simultaneously. Not Nintendo.
So they can release Watch_Dogs on Xbox One/Xbox 360, then later for Wii U, but not Rayman Legends for Wii U, then Xbox 360.
I think Rayman Legends being on Xbox 360 already voids out the port for Xbox One, though, because it technically was released on Xbox at the same time still.
Ubisoft just needs more time. I don't see how that's so difficult to understand.

Say what? When did they come out and say that? Also, what other games has Ubisoft ever released at various times across multiple platforms outside of a release on a new console?
@Ryno
They don't have to delay Watch_Dogs for Nintendo, but they had to delay Rayman for Microsoft. They didn't explicitly say that, but otherwise Rayman wouldn't have been on Xbox 360, and they wanted that.
Sony technically has absolutely nothing to do with the Rayman or Watch_Dogs delay, because the decisions made by Microsoft didn't effect Sony, either way.
If you want to blame Rayman's delay on Ubisoft, you're blaming the wrong people. That was Microsoft's fault. The fact that they're releasing Watch_Dogs for Wii U, layer, is proof that they would have done the same for Rayman, if Microsoft didn't have the multiplatform requirement.
EDIT: It's logic. We know why things worked one way, but not the other.
I don't know if Ubisoft actually said that, but it's a well-known Microsoft policy.
It may be, but Ubisoft could have done the same thing that happened with Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge if the games was ready for the Wii U. Release it on Wii U first as "exclusive" then change their minds and go multiplat.

NG3: Razor's Edge isn't an entirely different game, though. It was an enhanced version of a game that Xbox 360 already had gotten 9 months prior.

Riddle me this, would Microsoft refuse to license, let's say, Zombi U for the Xbox because it wasn't released at the same time as the Wii U version?
To blessed to be stressed.
80's music makes me feel fabulous.

It depends. They'd probably have to release a better version with more features, refined gameplay, or more content.
They can't directly just port it over to Xbox, anymore. Say it takes advantage of Kinect and Smartglass, sports some improved visuals, and incorporates Xbox Live, I think Microsoft would give the green light on that, because it's better than the version Nintendo would have.
ZombiU was rushed, and the developers didn't really know what direction to take, at times. If they went back and made the experience better, added Kinect, etc. as I mentioned above, I'm pretty sure Microsoft would recognize that Ubisoft made an effort to make it better for Xbox One.
If Ubisoft were to attempt that, they'd surely have had some some of meeting to ask Microsoft if they would accept a better version of a game released as far as 2 years later after the original. Ubisoft wouldn't start development unless Microsoft gave the "ok", beforehand.

Did you watch E3 last year?
Its pretty obvious that they dont have any long term goals with the Wii U. Its too bad because they have some pretty good games and IPs.
Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

It does actually seem like Ubisoft will be preparing to dial back support for the Wii U. Fortunately, I'm actually okay with that, because Nintendo is making VERY strong efforts to woo indie developers. If the Wii U becomes a 1st party/indie machine, I'm totally fine with that.
Ubisoft gave it a good try so I don't blame them if they pull support a part from shovelware.
Same here. I admire them. They tried, but the Wii U install base plus the anti-3rd party mentality of some of its owners bitter after the whole EA fiasco did it in for them. Having to comply with Microsoft didn't help much with Rayman Legends, but in order to make back the money they invested in the game, they had no choice. Sad, but true. At least they're making Watchdogs. Nintendo had better get the 9th gen better than this on the console side, and may the 3DS get a proper networking experience.

Fewer and fewer developers are making any money now. After a high-profile game tanks (and it's an issue of "when", not "if"), developers will eventually fragment into smaller houses--like Keiji Inafune's "Mighty #9". Nintendo would be in a fine position in this scenario. Xbox would be in trouble.
@skywake I'm not sure how that brought anything to the conversation... Why did Nintendo punch that guy's head off?
It's the Punch-Out!! theme that plays during the start. That video appeared in my sub-box when I opened this thread so I had Nintendo pictured as the ones in training before I got to the end of the video. So I'd assume that if that was the case the robot in here is the whole third party profit machine.... or something...
I'm making a thing out of putting videos in doom threads. This one just happened to be a little bit darker and more Nintendo themed than usual.
