Topic: So i can turn off my wii U while downloading the update?

i can turn it off just not unplug it right? Will i ever be able to unplug it because thatd suck if the power goes out mid update

Pretty sure you can turn it off or unplug it during the download, but not during the update.

But I wouldn't advise doing it.

...I don't think it downloads or updates anything while its off...and that turning it off will stop the download/installation...(and most likely cause problems)

Yeah... electronic devices don't usually do to well updating their software and downloading their firmware when they're turned off. Cuz you know, they're not on.

Guys, Nintendo said you shouldn't turn your Wii U off when downloading the update, just so you know.

I think it was the Wii that could do updates while "off" because it was really in Standby Mode, same could be said about the 3DS and its Sleep Mode, but the Wii U doesn't have either, only on or off.

NO, but you can choose for the WiiU to power off as soon as the download/update is complete. Just go to the manage downloads bit in the home menu. Its the big button at the bottom.
