@Marre35 In order for them to launch a new system by 2015 means they need to start working on it now and that's not happening for at least another year. Its here and now with the Wii U and Nintendo will float the boat by themselves just like they did with the Cube! Problem is it takes longer to develope hd games!

@Marre35

Launching a console so early would probably hurt Nintendo much more this time around. Microsoft/Sony and all the third parties are probably gearing for another 8-10 year cycle and Nintendo will be even more screwed if they go half a step. As a consumer I'm set in for at least 6-8 years of support and Nintendo launching a new console early would turn me off.

Were going to face the fact tha Nintendo will be about indies (granted you don't have one of the other next gen systems) and Nintendo Games.

They won't launch another console in 2015. Would be a suicidal risk that would end up with them desperately trying to fight from nothing again.

I do however see them soon just cutting out the Wii U Game Pad for some models like the 2DS did the 3D, as a way to price a 'budget' option for those who aren't gonna spend 200 odd pounds/dollars on the console. And I wouldn't be surprised if this happened in 2014 around the same time as Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros 4's releases.

I could see a new system by 2018 if Nintendo keeps going with 5-6 year cycles, but there's no way they would abandon WiiU by 2015.

@CM30
That I can see happening, but not until christmas next year at the very earliest.

I am sure that they are at least in the early stages of working on one now. Usually when the new console comes out they start working on the next one. At least thats what most companies do.

Even Activsion who's pledged support for the Wii U won't be bringing Destiny which is their big new IP to round out Call of Duty, and Skylanders

There's still time to port Destiny to WiiU, but I guess that decision hinges on wether or not Activision's current line-up performs well.

Maybe for the second game in the series but at this point with the Beta starting for PS4/XONE/PS3/PS4 I wouldn't get your hopes up. The game isn't coming to PC which would get priority over any sort of Wii U port.

Oh look, the armchair analysts are at it again. So killing the GamePad, dumping the Wii U and general doom. No new ideas then?

ok, cool.

Doesn't killing the gamepad leave Nintendo with a 360 with lackluster third party support.

Fair enough I suppose. I was just taking Microsoft and Sony's word for it. Activision said they had Ghosts running in 4K, but they aren't supporting it in the actual game, because like others mentioned, it's not practical. They'd be supporting the 1% basically.

Anyway, that just gives more reason for Nintendo to not have made a "stronger" machine. We seriously don't know exactly what any of these machines can do. For all we know, Wii U could be running Kingdom Hearts III or whatever else. It doesn't seem so impossible to me, taking only what the games look like on-screen into account.

There's not even that many 3rd party games besides what Capcom, EA, Ubisoft, Square Enix, and Activision are putting out, anyway. Obviously, Wii U only has some of those game, but looking at the overall picture, Wii U isn't missing much based on Xbox One and PS4 announced titles, besides exclusives, of course.

Would I buy those games? Yes. If I manage my money well in the next month, I'd be able to buy an Xbox One, but I'd honestly rather just buy more Nintendo games.

Is that a sports term? Because I tried to look up funny pictures for it and all I got were sports pictures...

Mostly sports, but it applies to all of us amateur analysts really whether we sit either on the couch (sports) or whatever chair we sat at to access our computers.

I didn't know about alot of those games. I was only thinking of the companys' I mentioned games.

Besides Nintendo has a ton of games by themselves, without 3rd party support.

I also want to point out, that it's not because the Wii U can't get these games, it's that 3rd parties don't think they will sell. They think if you want those games, you'll buy an Xbox One or PS4. The entire attitude towards the whole 3rd party situation on Wii U is preposterous.

You guys can't seriously think actually arguing over what games Wii U gets is actually relevant in the overall scope, can you? If everyone went out and bought a Wii U right now, Xbox One got delayed for 6 months, or some other crazy occurrence, I can guarantee these games would show up. Hell, if Wii U sells at least 2 million consoles this holiday, I have no doubt that Wii U will get the 3rd party support.

Granted, I understand Wii U is 1 year older technologically, but that's aside from the "weak" argument. Go compare a MAC 2012 and a MAC 2013. What changed in a year? Also, yes, this is relevant.
