Hi folks,

I was just wondering if there was ever any confirmation that that error code that appeared when playing Smash Bros online has been addressed/fixed by Nintendo.

Here's the original article from NL: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/12/super_smash_bros_pla...

I generally don't play games online so at the time I wasn't paying too much attention to this story, however, a friend of mine who lives across the country has recently bought a Wii U and Smash and wants to play together. Unless I get confirmation that this has been addressed I'd rather not take the system online.

I'd really appreciate any insight or knowledge that the community might have on this topic. Thanks!

My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

Reading the comments of the article show that the problem occurred to a very small number of people, and doesn't seem to be solely related to Smash. I don't play Smash online all that often, but aside from the inevitable lag, there have been no other problems. You'll be fine.

Thank you very much. I just wish Nintendo would out and out say "hey, we acknowledge the problem and have issued a patch." I know I'm always seeing articles over at Push Square letting us know that the latest Drive Club or Assassin's Creed Unity patch have been released, so I was just wondering if I had missed a similar article about Smash here at NL.

Anyways, I had read that it wasn't just an error pertaining to Smash Bros. and that other games were giving a small number of people that same error code. Still, I just like to be safe. I've got save data for 10 games on my Wii U and really don't want it to brick on me, that's all lol.

IIRC, the system was bricked because the player got an incorrect advice from Nintendo support staff to reformat the console when Smash stopped working.

And Smash stopped working because the Smash save file got corrupt.

And the Smash file got corrupt because Smash doesn't display a symbol when it saves the state (and the power was probably turned off during a save).

Always close your games with the Home button and you should be fine in Smash and other games. Never turn off the console power while you're in a game.
