Is anyone else finding the same issue i'm finding in my local area. I live in the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania area (here in the US for our UK friends). I have a gamestop, kmart, and walmart (plus an independent store called Cash-In Culture although they are over priced on everything) all within 10 minutes of my house. Then if i go about 30 minutes away i have at least 1-2 Best Buys near me ,and about another 3-4 gamestops as well as at least another 3 walmarts.
The thing is everytime i go to any of these places the selection of Wii & Wii U games is reallly really small. The first party stuff like zelda, mario ,and pikmin is easy to find ,but stuff like mass effect, need for speed, and etc especially cheaper used copies is extremely hard to find at these local places. I'm getting really annoyed trying to go out pick up new stuff as i can find the stuff i really want unless i want to order it online.
Then even at that gamestop's online selection is even small as i always see stuff unavailable online ,and then i'll find a good deal on best buy's site to find that its in store only ,but yet no store locally has it.
It looks like i'm going to have to start utilizing amazon although i hate the cost of shipping especially for something that barely weighs anything ,and i like that instant satisfaction as well as sense of adventure of going out and buying the game. Although it's getting ridiculous trying to find anything.
I wish the eShop prices was more in line with the retail prices then i'd just go that route ,but i can't see paying 39.99 to 59.99 for a game on the eShop when it may be 14.99 to 29.99 at the actual store although if you can actually find a local place carrying it.
Plus with the way Nintendo handles digital downloads i'm kind of scared of making big 40-60 dollar purchases on it. I'm afraid of something happening to the console then i lose all the games i buy.
I was going all digital before on my ps3/vita until i had an issue with sony ,and darksiders 2. I purchased darksiders 2 on the psn store erased it from my hard drive until i was ready to play it. Went to go download it ,and it was gone from my download list ,and although it showed up on the store the file size of 187mb proved the game wasn't on there server anymore. I had to fight with sony to get my money back on it. So after that i've been kind of scared of buying my games digitally unless their a download only game.
Anyhow anyone else running into what i've been running into?
Current Switch Games: Super Mario Odyssey, Legend of Zelda BoTW, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon 2, Resident Evil Revelations Collection, Doom, Skyrim, Rogue Trooper, Volgarr the Viking, Blaster Master Zero, Elliot Quest, and Rive
All I've noticed over here is that MedaMarkt has a pretty small selection for being such a big electronics store. But I almost always buy my games online, so I rarely notice.

yeah well i think i'm going to end up joining you guys on that front. Is there any good online retailers other than amazon ,or gamestop.com that carry a good selection of new/used wii/wii u games? I use to look at gamefly alot ,but their selection is getting pretty limited as well.

It is really hard finding Wii U games in stores. My local EBgames doesn't even bother putting them on the shelves, so if you want a multiplatform title like Splinter Cell or AC4 you have to ask for it and they'll get it from the back, yet they'll have a bajillion 360/PS3 copies out.
Nintendo is the only company that I trust buying digital games from. That's because all of my DSiWare games transferred to my 3DS and all of my Wii VC/WiiWare transferred to my Wii U. My PSN and XBLA games are not so lucky though, as when I switch to PS4 or XBO I'll lose everything that I bought, unless I keep the old PS3/360 hooked up, but even then I'm sure that they'll be removed from PSN/XBLA servers before long. Basically Nintendo keeps my digital purchase safe into a new generation, whereas Sony and MS don't.
My advice is to keep an eye on eBay. You can usually find a better deal there and a lot of people do free shipping. It sucks you can't find what you're looking for in stores.. my Best Buy here in Michigan tends to always have a good stock of games, so do the Meijer stores.
I still buy my games at retail stores (excluding the few I bought online last week. first time using Amazon. couldn't resist). My GameStop has a pretty decent selection. The Nintendo section is dwarfed by the PS3, PS4, 360, and One sections, but I can find everything I'm looking for.
If I can't, though, I'll likely default to Amazon. It's a great service.
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite
I live in Ontario, Canada, but YES. I've noticed this as well. You'll find Mario and Zelda and Pikmin.... but everything else is hard to find. Strange. But there are a great deal of Wii games in the bargain bin. Then again, I've noticed the bargain bin at my local Walmart has very little selection in general now for all systems. It just seems picked-over.
I've gotten a few Wii U games out of the Amazon marketplace (007 Legends and Mass Effect 3 for example) just so I can get some variety for the system. But you're right. I've noticed the selection is very small at retail stores.
Try looking online is probably my best advice. You'll probably get a deal as well. I got 007 Legends brand new for $7 plus shipping.
I live in Iowa, we have an abysmal 3DS and Wii U selection here, I get a lot of new games from Gamestop when they first come out, but never find them later.

Not for me.
Both the Wii U and 3DS are well represented in my local Best Buy, Target, and Gamestop. My advice to you is to start checking Amazon and get yourself a Prime membership. I actually check online before I go to a store to buy games.
Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

I know you can get free shipping with amazon prime ,but is it only on stuff thats actually fulfilled by amazon ,or is it good on other sellers thru amazon as well?

@Gamecubed What do you mean by Amazon marketplace? Is it BEARDOS BAZAAR from Amazon.ca? Where you find that James Bond game for $7 online? (I usually have an problem ordering from 3rd party on Amazon.ca so I stopped.)
PS: I want to know because I lived near you and I want good deals!

Yeah, that's the one! It's like $7 or $8 plus shipping. It's a good game if you're a Bond fan.
I haven't had a problem yet with purchasing from third parties. Everything generally goes quite smoothly with them. Make sure to read some of the feedback messages from other customers if you aren't sure.
