Topic: Slow connection on WiiU

Hello guys!
I have a internet speed problem on WiiU. My connection is 30Mbps and WiiU uses only 3mbps (tested in http://speedof.me/m).
When i use NetFlix, never exceeds 720p, due to limited speed.
I've already set manually fixed IP adress, DNS, added the IP adress in the DMZ of the router, firewall disabled and nothing!
Does anyone have any tips to help me?

Update your router, and leave the settings at default.

Those speedtesting sites don't give reliable numbers on the Wii U browser. As for Netflix well I'd have no idea but my guess would be it's probably something to do with the app or your internet connection in general more than it is the Wii U.

Yeah, I don't pretend to be a Netflix expert at all because Australia etc, etc. However from what I do know they do tend to lean heavily on compression before they drop the resolution. So my assumption would be that "resolution" is a setting more than a bandwidth thing and because of the compression the higher resolution streams won't necessarily give you a better picture.

There was an article I saw a while ago about them launching a 4K service soon which was hyped to no end. Then I read further and apparently they're allowing it on connections as low as 5Mbps. To put that in perspective youtube at 1080p runs at around 5Mbps or so. Netflix is advertising a stream at 4x the pixels with a minimum spec of the same bandwidth.

There's no magic happening here, they just compress the hell out of the image. A 5Mbps stream will look no better at 4K when compared to a 5Mbps stream at even 720p. Forget about the 'p', look at the Mbps

If your router is underneath a table or behind a wall or something, try moving it to open space. Also try moving your Wii U closer to it if possible. I had the same problem (except with much slower internet from my ISP) and this was the fix.

Also, if your router Is 5+ years old, you might want to look at getting a new one. My old one recently went up and works much better on wireless devices than the previous one. It could also give you the added benefit of upgrading to WPA2 for your wireless encryption instead of WEP.

Finally, is it just the Wii U that's slow or are other devices experiencing the same thing? You might also want to try changing the channel your wireless broadcasts on (most likely not the problem). This can be tricky though if you don't know what you're doing.
