Well, yeah you'd get an updated list, but again unless the services are united, or something like what you had to do on the NXE XBox Live dashboard you wouldn't be able to see who's doing what if they're Skype onloy contact. That said, OK maybe be nice to chat while you play a game, but at the same time I think this could be better done by Nintendo themselves, if the hardware could handle it, to integrate modified in-game use of the video chat feature because there you're garunteed chat between Nintendo Network friends.

Skype is a company of hundreds of people.

Expecting Nintendo to resource and develop a superior offering essentially from scratch is unrealistic.

Well, nobody is saying Nintendo has to make a superior offering to Skype (in fact it wouldn't really even be superior nor inferior, just unique to Nintendo's services if anything it doesn't have to compete with other im software/apps), just something for video chat in-game, which really hasn't been done on any platform so it's probably slightly complex. That said, i could really only see Skype for WII functioning similar to the PS Vita version, just with thee xception of the TV and GamePad to compensate for picture-in-picture.

The Wii U already has a video chat feature...... and the ability to do voice chat in game....

Really I thought the only point of wanting Skype was so you could call your Skype contacts via the Wii U hardware.

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"

Ehh, I'm actually not too certain about voice chat (Or at least I have no idea what games, if any, that support it (yet)) because other topics here were debetable as to whethe or not it could handle it. In any case this is vodeo chat we're talking about, I'm well aware of Video Calling on Wii U. And yeah, I get what you're saying about having Skype on Wii U. Most likely it would function on its own as it does on PS Vita.

Windows live is dead man, they got rod of it last year and are slowly replacing it with nothing but Skype.

Also all new Skype accounts are going to considered Microsoft accounts going forward. My Skype is the same as my Xbox live which is the same as my outlook email which is the same as my sky drive.

WAT!

Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.

Windows Live isn't dead; Messenger yes, Live services, no. The most current thing I have is Windows Live Essentials (which I DLed last year btw so it couldn't be dead), which as I stated counts as sort of an upgrade to emssenger, though I have no idea what they're doing on Windows 8.
