Where did I ever say it was coming to the Wii U? Quite the contrary.
You're the one acting as if a few maybes are some sort of confirmation that they're underway with another 3D Mario platformer on the Wii U and that it will emphasize the Wii U gamepad's touch screen.
No, because he's not saying that it's coming to Wii U.
And when I said it was coming to the Wii U, that was just me vaguely remembering what he said. When I posted the article, I never said it was on the Wii U, I was saying what they would do if (Key word: if) it was on the Wii U.
Another big single player focused 3D Mario Game on the Wii U is almost a given IMO. I just don't think it's that high on the list of games I want to see first. I'm all Marioed out and we've already had the novelty of seeing Mario in HD for the first time. Time to give Zelda, Metroid and even Starfox a go. Because the extra power of the Wii U could really elevate those franchises in a way that I don't think we'll see with Mario even when they do give us the "big Mario game".

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"
No, because he's not saying that it's coming to Wii U.
As that clearly says, I was disputing your now backtracked upon claim that Nintendo has essentially confirmed a new 3D Mario platformer is in the works for the Wii U.
In no way, shape, or form did I ever say otherwise.
I would rather have a follow up to 3D World than a "true" 3D Mario game (whatever that means). If it doesn't have great local multiplayer, I'm not interested. I'm especially not interested in a collectathon.
A 3D platforming Metroid game. Think about it...It could have better controls than Other M, a moveable camera, and make great use of the Gamepad through scanning or whatever. Think about it. A platforming 3rd person shooter adventure game! Or they could just make a 3d open world Kirby game.
Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

HAL has openly stated that they are interested in a 3D Kirby, so I would look out for it after Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is released.
I expect there to be a second 3D Mario game for Wii U eventually.
Rainbow Curse is almost certainly a filler spinoff for the next main Kirby game on Wii U coming in a few years like how Wind Waker HD and Hyrule Warriors are meant to appease Zelda fans until they release Zelda U. They're almost certainly working on a Kirby game for Wii U, but it probably won't come until the end of the Wii U's lifespan as usual (I'm guessing around 2017).
As for 3D, I would also like to see one, we're overdue for a 3D take on the franchise at this point.
Kirby in 3D is something that is long, long overdue. If you think, most franchises made the transition from 2D to 3D on the N64 and Kirby has gone from the N64 to the Wii U still attached to the same side-scrolling formula of old. I love Kirby as it is, but I also love 3D platformers. We need Kirby 3D.
Also, outside of Mario, Nintendo seems to favour 2D side-scrollers over 3D platformers. We got one Donkey Kong in 3D, DK 64, and after that they reverted it back to 2D.
