I agree with the OP. I have no concerns about Nintendo's financial future or even if one more person buys a Wii U because I'm too busy enjoying it with my family to vent about how the latest entry in franchise X won't be gracing the machine.

Just do what I do and skip any thread that suggests it's going to be negative in tone - I put those alongside the "convince me to buy X" and "should I buy Y?" as being generally unconstructive and the meanderings of the bored. Makes it a lot easier to keep up-to-date because very few of the Wii U forum threads that are presently active are worthwhile.

Yeah that pretty much goes with screw the labels and play what you like. I very really venture into the Wii U forum section cause I know its going to be some flamebait thread on how this isn't coming to the Wii U, or like you said Why should I buy a Wii U or something along those lines.

I mean honestly I dont understand people if they are that unhappy with the Wii U sell the darn thing, instead of crying and whining why it's a disappointment or go trade it in for a Playstation 4 or Xbox One if Sony and MS are getting all the 3rd party games. I mean yeah dont get me wrong I have a Wii U am I disappointed on the way Nintendo is marketing it and how they are handling it? Sure. Do I want more third party support sure it would be nice. But instead of banging my head against the wall and crying about what they dont have I am playing and enjoying what they do have. As ECW owner Paul Hayman once said hide the negative and accentuate the positive. That is also why I bought a PS4 and then that's when I hear but I cant afford two system, which is hogwash if you want something that bad then you will find away to get it.

Instead of jumping on an internet forum blowing it up on how Sony and MS suck and how EA is abandoning the Wii U and how Nintendo should do this to get third parties back, use that time to earn some extra dough to get one of those other systems to play the third party games. Mow lawns, get a party time job, do some extra chores around the house etc. And guess what just cause you do end up buying a PS4 or Xbox One, Nintendo isn't going to crucify you or go other of business, it doesn't mean you are disloyal to Nintendo it just means you are a gamer who enjoys gaming that's all.

If you really like games, that's great. Shut up and play them, but don't let that be the only thing that matters.

Sony fans are more interested in having the latest and greatest most powerful video game console and that is what the PS4 is trying to give them.

Nintendo fans.....well they were told that gameplay matters and graphics are less important. So when a newer more expensive Wii comes out that is not delivering compelling new gameplay (the failure of the gamepads feature to really matter to consumers) and is trying to compel you to upgrade based on better graphics that are not all that better than other consoles that came out in 2006....well the Nintendo hardcore fans will always buy it but the rest of the Wii owners are not going for it.

I agree with the sentiment of the OP, but you just have to ignore the negativity and stuff. I hope Nintendo at least gets the Wii U to be profitable, which is likely based on their track record, but I bought it for the games that were out and the games I knew were coming for it (luckily I didn't buy it for Madden or Alien Colonial Marines). I have plenty of games to play on it and am generally happy with it in spite of some minor gripes. I said in another post that the company is trying to make money and the consumer is trying to play games. Nintendo in general (thanks to the handheld gaming) has been very profitable and has been making more money in this business than Sony and Microsoft even if those home consoles maybe won the fictional console war while Nintendo lost. Nintendo shouldn't care about the console war if they are making the most money. Console owners shouldn't care about the console war if the console they bought is giving them the games they wanted when they bought it. If you bought a Wii U for third party games than you should probably sell it, if you bought it mainly for Nintendo games than you should be happy with it and know there is more good stuff to come. Recently Nintendo may have lost money but the negative fanboys are making a way bigger deal about this than they should considering the money Sony and Microsoft lost early last gen while the Wii was printing money. Nintendo never lost money in this business until the last couple of years and even those losses are not a significant problem for the companies health considering their track record and their assets.

And the health of Nintendo's fanbase has been slowly deteriorating over the years unfortunately. N64--->GC----->Wii U seems like a steady digression that saw a blip in the radar(Wii). Luckily, the loyalty to these companies only exists on the internet for the most part and Nintendo can change this trend.

I think this mainly has to do with people transitioning from Nintendo to PlayStation or Xbox.

Not everyone that used to play SNES, N64, etc. buys Nintendo, anymore. The same thing happened with GBA to DS or PSP.

Also the fact we now have people who are teenagers who grew up with Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony and the stigma that Nintendo aren't as cool.

That only happens if people like Xbox or PS, more than Nintendo.

I've always liked Nintendo the most. System transitions happen all the time. The market is always changing.

Here's a better idea of what I was getting at my a simple community of gamers. Have you ever seen people come to verbal blows over whether one movie is better than the other? Have you met someone who only watches movies from Universal Studios and refuses to even look at a movie from 20th Century Fox? Gaming is more about the companies nowadays than the actual games.

The consoles are what make this different. You can watch more than just Sony movies on a Sony Blu-Ray player. Do to the fact that certain games can only be played on certain systems allows people to compare. On the other hand I do not recommend consoles become as open as DVD players. There is a magic to a console introducing new hardware and supporting itself with software (example: Nintendo) or consoles that try to change the way developers can create games (example: Xbox One DRM pluses, not looking at the negatives). In the game industry Software and Hardware are tied very close to each other. Movies can only be watched limiting how you experience them. Games are played which means there are an endless possibility for people to interact with them

The PS4 does more than play video games.
People view console purchases as an investment. If they think lots of games are coming in the future, then it won't take much to get people on board quickly.
Brand loyalty.
Marketing.
If you're a PS Plus user, some of the inherent costs of the system are gone. That, and every month you're missing out on a "free" game if you don't get a PS4.
The system does have some really cool features with the streaming stuff to twitch. I don't think I'd ever use it, but a lot of my friends on Facebook seem to really like it. And heck, that's basically free advertising.

Basically, Sony made a more compelling product to people who are not hardcore Nintendo fans.

Xbox One can do all the same things PS4 is doing, and arguably more, but it's still selling less than PS4.

It's coming off the back of the PS3, which has arguably had more momentum behind it the past year than the 360. Plus all the negative news/rumors about the Xbox One leading up to it's release made a lot of 360 fans want to jump ship to the PS4. It's $100 cheaper. It doesn't come with a horrible gimmick like kinect.

Plus it's new.

Not arguably. I'm pretty sure it objectively does more.
The reason it isn't selling as well is because it's more expensive, and the additional feature don't seem to be resonating as well with people.
A lot of thing's that happened with Microsoft last gen are coming to bite them in the butts now (especially stuff like the comparative lack of exclusives that weren't timed).

And hey, from what I understand, XB1 seems to be selling really well too.

So that further proves there was/is a transitional period between what consumers think is the best console for them, which also happen to be the "core" consumers.

Some people make purchasing decisions in store. I've been keeping up with all of the gaming news, and I almost impulse bought an Xbox One, but then I decided it was best to just buy more Wii U games.

At least you understand it objectively does more in some areas. The other aspects you brought up are debatable, but that's not really what this discussion is about. I think the features and media Xbox One bring are better, but that's probably more derivative of Microsoft's PC roots.
