Topic: Should Nintendo have its own Cartoon tie in?

With Sega having Sonic Boom on Cartoon Network, and Bandai Namco having Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures on Disney XD. Do you think Nintendo should try to have their own CG cartoon on a kids network. Its funny how people say Nintendo is a kiddy company, but it seems that with each passing day, their franchises, Including Mario, are becoming less and less relevant among younger kids. So a cartoon could get them interested again, especially if it had some great people behind it. Surprisingly, there was a French Donkey Kong Country cartoon that was on Fox Family at one point in the early 2000s, but airing that today would be a big mistake as the show has not aged well at all.

The Super Mario Bros Super Show used to be pretty cool.....not sure how they can top it.

I prefer traditional animation to the cheap CG cartoon style

I think a Splatoon cartoon TV show tie-in would be cool and distribute it through Netflix and other streaming services.

Instantly I remember the Kirby show that used to exist

I think a PIXAR Mario Move would be pretty cool. I also think a Legend of Zelda TV series (also done by Disney), based around the SS Link or OoT Link would be awesome. I am a grown man, and I would watch that.

Wasn't there a Donkey Kong Country show as well?

That's the one I was talking about in the OP. That crappy French cartoon on Fox Family in the early 2000s, not that it was much of a supprise though. Most of Fox Family's kids programming was from France and Canada to begin with.

Mario would probably be an obvious choice, though I would like some more of those Pikmin short movies.

There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

I could actually see a Pikmin movie doing very well. Pixar could produce it. Pikmin could be a bit like Minions. Would be a huge hit with the kids (and their parents).

Well excuse me, Princess!

Sorry, it had to be said.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

It could be good for publicity, but it seems like it would be a double edged sword, further solidifying the company's image of being a kiddie company that "real" adults shouldn't play. (Not my thoughts obviously but there's no denying that that's the company's image in most of the public eye.)

Other than that, as long as the games have priority and continue being the quality they've ways been, I would have no problems with it.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

They need to make Pokemon Origins into a full show.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Since nobody's saying it, how about a Smash Bros anime akin to the Palutena reveal trailer?

Maybe, although it depends on the game. Mario could be difficult to adapt cause of the lack of plot and huge amount if releases per year (normally cartoons and anime 'overtake the manga', but a Mario adaptation would be left in the dust by the video game series), but something about Kid Icarus or Smash Bros could be cool. As could a WarioWare adaptation based around surreal humour and randomness, like most of what's on Cartoon Network nowadays.

Lauren Faust managed to make My Little Pony of all things cool to an adult male audience. If Nintendo can find someone like her, along with talented writers who have experience with quality kids shows, then it can reach an adult audience no matter what.

I just think rather than thinking "Cartoon" we should think "Anime"

Anime has a way to reach all ages without being branded as "kiddie"

Much like Anime, Cartoon is just a slang term for Animation. They're differenciated due to the different way Japan and America make cartoons. Plus, there are many cartoons that can reach all ages like Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, MLP:FiM, Wander Over Yander, Steven Universe, etc.

While they were mainly used as slang terms, they have become their own genres.

At this rate there are probably more adults playing Nintendo games then kids, all they seem to play nowadays is CoD or iPhone apps, so ultimately I think that point is moot. Especially when, as MisterMan said, superficially kiddie shows like MLP are all the rage with grown men anymore.
