Hey someone is mad because Nintendo made an upgrade to their system which was launched almost 4 YEARS AGO, seriously, i cant believe people are still mad about this

Considering the times im impressed by how "static" is the gaming medium, smartphones change eveyr year and millions of millions of people are fine to pay more than 3 times of the cost of the 3DS... (Some people are paying $400 dollars ON A CONTRACT FOR 2 YEARS !!! for an Iphone 6)

You want some salt with that lemon?

Nintendo update their handhelds every generation, sometimes several times but they have yet to upgrade any of their home consoles,so the OP won't need to worry about that.

I hear ya. TBH I was indifferent about the New 3DS because the one I have is fine. Then I saw how slow Smash loads and how much I'm hammering the circle-pad and I like that I do have the option to upgrade to one that won't have those issues. Even more with the improved 3D ontop of it. Just like how I was happy I could upgrade from my original 3DS to the XL when I was getting tired of the smudges. It doesn't mean I'll do it, it certainly doesn't mean I have to or will be there day 1. But it's nice to have that as an option.

The Wii U? The Wii U itself is just a dumb box really. I'm not wearing it down, there's nothing particularly bad about the setup. The load times are not an issue on the thing and the main limit is the drive speed rather than RAM/CPU. Unlike the 3DS. So if it was to get a revision, which always happens, it'll probably be a stripped down budget model. The people who get that won't be getting anything more. People saying that they'll wait for it are idiots.

The Wii U already has a decent library considering it's only been out for a couple of years, or an amazing library if you count older Wii titles that are compatible.

Here's a list of 100 games you can play on a Wii U, ranging from good to gosh-darn-masterpiece:

Before I give you my opinion, I'm just going to put it out there that I personally don't think of the XBox One as a serious choice because of what Microsoft tried to do to the gaming industry. I will never EVER, recommend a console by any manufacturer that tried to forcibly impose a DRM scheme on the industry. Thus, my recommendation will center on whether the Wii U or the PS4 would be best for you.

Since you don't have a gaming PC (assuming I read the past messages on here correctly), what it will come down to is (1) whether you need/like the extra features on the PS4, such as the DVD player, playstation network, etc. (2) whether you play a lot of RPGs, (3) how big a fan of Nintendo games you are, (4) how much you're into graphics; (5) how often you play games online; and (6) price.

#1 is not a big deal if you already own a PS3 or another device that can play blue-ray DVDs. If you already do, then I wouldn't even think about #1 unless you need another blu ray player in your house for some reason (like to have by a tv in the bedroom, for example).

#2 is an issue. The later generations of Nintendo consoles have had very small offerings when it comes to RPGs. Don't get me wrong, Xenoblade Chronicles, the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles X, Earthbound on the virtual console, etc. are all amazing games, but in comparison to the PS3/PS4 the Wii U has very little. Personally, I play most of my RPGs on my PC and 3ds, so the fact the Wii U doesn't have many isn't a big deal. However, if you're a hardcore RPG fan this factor probably tilts in favor of the PS4.

#3 will obviously tilt in favor of Wii U if you're a fan of Nintendo games. While the Wii U's launch offerings were not great, Nintendo has quickly upped the pace with its game releases and the lineup late this year and all through next year is going to be amazing. We have smash, bayonetta 2, captain toad, yarn yoshi, xeno chronicles x, devil's third, zelda, star fox, and probably may more to come. The space between releases is about how much time it takes me to complete a game these days with work and stuff anyway, so I don't mind the wait. Regardless, these games are definitely worth waiting for. In particular, I highly recommend Pikmin 3, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, Wonderful 101, Super Mario/Luigi Bros U, and Nintendoland.

#4 depends on how likely you are to notice that stuff. Personally, I don't really notice any major differences between the PS3 and PS4, and the Wii U is a step above the PS3 (though reportedly not as high quality as the PS4). Really, as long as games don't have clipping, glitchy graphics, etc. I could probably care less, but some people care a lot about graphics. If you're the type of person for whom not having the highest graphic-quality system will be a big deal, then this leans toward PS4. That being said, the Wii U games look beautiful (play one race in MK8 or play Pikmin 3 to see what I mean).

#5 depends on how big multiplayer generally is for you. Personally, multiplayer only matters to me for very specific games, and in Nintendo's case they have that covered with Mario Kart 8 and the upcoming Smash (I was a little disappointed that Hyrule Warriors lacked online co-op though). Additionally, I find that Nintendo's online store and network runs a bit smoother than the PSN, AND it's free. Plus, if you're a member of Club Nintendo (also free) and buy a fair number of games, you can get some free classics. Playstation network is not free, but it's not too expensive and they give you free modern games every once in awhile. PS4 also has more games that have multiplayer. I think this factor is neutral, but it will probably tilt in favor of the PS4 if having online functionality in most games is important to you.

#6 Wii U probably wins here with its lower price, and the fact that it's backwards compatible with almost all Wii games and peripherals.

In all honesty, I believe you'd be fine either way, though If you're a fan of Nintendo games it's probably 60/40 in favor of the Wii U. Whatever you do though, PLEASE DON'T BUY AN XBOX ONE. Your soul will thank you later.

Happy hunting!

2015 is looking quite fantastic for the Wii U.
Right now you can get like a dozen exclusive games that are cool, from DKC:TF, SM3DWorld, Pikmin 3, Zelda:WW:HD, Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart 8 etc (captain Toad soon), and then in 2015 it is packed with Splatoon, Xenoblade X, starfox, Zelda. And there's Smash and there are some third party games that were really good in the beginning, Zombi U, (Deux Ex, DarksidersII, Injustice, Arkham City:AE, Mass Effect 3: SE if you haven't played those)....

3 years and 5 months is hardly 'almost 4 years ago'. Just saying.

I have an XBone and a Wii U. While I like the XBone, the Wii U is my favorite system. Games are generally sharper on XBone, but Wii U games are more fun.

If you ask me, now is not a good time to buy an 8th gen console. None of the big 3 have entered the generation in full swing, and the games are lacking because of it. Instead, right now I would focus on playing all the 7th gen games you missed. Maybe buy a 7th gen console you never got around to. That offers a far greater selection of games.

If you would buy a Wii U, you can play all the Wii games as well?

But it's 3 times the price. Anyway, I'm assuming TC has a Wii, as most people do, especially on a Nintendo site like NintendoLife.

There is no reason to worry about Nintendo discontinuing the Wii U, for all the reasons others have already said. Since you don't really like RPGs or Shooters that cuts out most of the Xbox One and PS4's library, both current and potential. As for indies the Wii U has quite a few great ones from what I hear, although I can't remember most off the top of my head.

Working on the profile pic. Trying to find a good one for me.
