@andrew20 Thank you for clarifying. You haven't given us much info to help you decide, so I would say: buy a new one, as it's +1 on the Wii U hardware sales figures, plus you get a shiny new console. It's not like they're that expensive anyway.
I'd personally just buy a new one, the price isn't that bad and there are almost always games bundled with the system (it's a good value). Besides, refurbished systems can be risky (except maybe from Nintendo) as you don't know what type of problems you may be inheriting.
Also, as @gcunit mentioned, a +1 to the Wii U's sales figures is always welcome.
