If they were to go with Steam, does that mean that all my Steam games could then be played on my Wii U?
i think the games would have to be optimised and coded a little differently we should remeber that a console game doesnt think like a pc game considering the variable hardware of a computers and how a pc game is coded to handle many specs
thats all i can think of right now even it if makes sense or not but one example is if you were to run say just throwing it out there meatboy pc version on a console without changing anything it would perform pretty badly compared to a console version designed to work around the specs it has
now i often question my self thinking a console would be the same thing as a pc just not as open to features like you get on pc though thats going to change definitly
Ohhh I see. That makes sense. (:
glad i made some sort of sense then lol i also forgot to add that you have whatever version of windows you have that a pc game can work on you throw that particular version into a console which runs on something else that i dont know it just wont work

Ohhh yeah. Kinda like how there are different downloads for PC and Mac.
Why are people constantly comparing Origin to Steam? How is one better than the other? Does it really matter which service the Wii U uses? EA is already helping Nintendo with their online infrastructure, so adopting Origin is an obvious choice, right?
Nintendo is (hopefully) in the process of repairing its relationships with third parties and IMO Valve/Steam is a better fit towards reaching that goal. EA/Origin would still be able to help Nintendo modernize their online approach, but ultimately Nintendo would be signing a deal with a blockbuster publisher; so we would see the EA big budget cross platform releases, but there'd be no guarantee that Nintendo would get the boost in third party activity that it needs. We most likely wouldn't see any Valve/Nintendo collaborations, for example. Plus, the Steam marketplace is constantly doing promotions or themed sales, and practically throws bargains at you, which is the kind of environment Nintendo needs to learn how to create if it wants to succeed at digital distribution... text brick
meh, I do not want an online service operated by third parties
Well PSN is.
No it isn't. PSN is operated by Sony. With the PS2, Sony let developers handle their own online networks cause they didn't have their own "Xbox Live" at that time. PSN is a unified service, like Xbox Live, and it's controlled only by Sony.

The server upkeep for PSN is done by a Third party. It isn't done in house like Mircosoft's.
YThat's why Mircosoft charges for Live. The cost goes into in house server upkeepin house from a company who one of main sources of revenue deals with that.
