Topic: Rumor about Retro showing off a new Engine and game on Wednesday

Team Ninja also said they wouldn't mind working on another Metroid again. I've said this before but I didn't mind Other M...it had flaws but I still enjoyed it.

Let's not put too much weight on Retro anymore.
Still, we'd do with a little surprise. If there was still some sort of a surprise announcement of a big title, it'd be awesome!

I despised it as did a vast number of Metroid fans. I felt that it was a broken game and was also a terrible portrayal of Samus both as a character and as an iconic female character in gaming. I would be furious if Ninja did the new Metroid.

Don't forget that Retro previously stated that their next project was "something that everyone wanted us to do". I don't know about everyone else, but whilst I did enjoy DKCR a lot, it was a game that I never expected/wanted Retro to work on, and CERTAINLY not a sequel for it straight after. They're hiding something, for sure.

I think Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze was made as a side project to help fill in a gap during the holiday season, boost sales, and tide us over until Retro's big project is ready. That's just my feeling, but i'm happy with more DK

I don't think that means nothing. I think that means that they had to choose what game they were to development for this holiday.

Nah, I think this (DKC Returns 2) is the game Retro is putting it's sweat and tears in!

It just makes perfect sense! DKC Returns was awesome AND sold a lot! That's why they are following it up first with a sequel!

Of course I would love to see a new Metroid (or something totally new) made by them, but I guess that has to wait for the future!

@Erica-Hattman: Of course, Team Ninja! I thought other m was near-perfect. 10/10 for me. The game was incredibly fun and turns out to be on of my favorites of all time. A sequel would be great!

I don't think it's Metroid, and if it is, it isn't Prime. I'm actually surprised it ended up being DK, but that leads me to think something else might show up, too.
There's literally an article here on NL that says they chose DK over Metroid. That doesn't mean they chose both.

Really hope this turns out to be true. I don't believe Retro is only making a DK game with all teasing they have done for the past year.

I could be a new IP or it could F-Zero or Star Fox or Metroid. Any of these would be great. A new Retro game is going to be great no matter what it is.

I don't think it will be F-Zero. They kind of adapted the zero gravity aspect for Mario Kart. Not saying an F-Zero will never happen again, but this new Mario Kart takes alot of level design and car aspect(anti-gravity) cues from F-Zero.

I hope it's true. But if it is and it's not Star Fox or F-Zero I wouldn't care either way...

I won't get my hopes up too high, but it would be a nice surprise if this was true.
